    Q
What mix rate of Demand CS do you recommend for scorpions. Also anything better recommended for scorpions?
    A

For Scorpion control you would want to use either 12ml or 24ml per gallon of water depending on how heavy the infestation is in your area/yard. Demand CS will help prevent scorpion infestations of buildings, treat a band of soil 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the building. Also treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet where pests are active and may find entrance. Treat other insect entry points such as doors, windows, under siding and eaves of structure. Apply in sufficient water to adequately cover the area being treated.

Getting rid of scorpions requires a combination of both chemical and non-chemical measures. Think of non-chemical measures (such as vacuuming, sanitation, harborage removal, and exclusion) as limiting or removing conditions that contribute to the infestation. These measures are largely preventative but scorpion control cannot be achieved without them. The next step is to come in with the real ammunition, chemical pesticides, that do the job of physically wiping out an infestation.

    Q
Can I mix Demand CS and Cy-Kick CS together to make a "super" insecticide?
We live in Phoenix, AZ (Central Phoenix) and we have a huge...I mean HUGE bark scorpion problem. We have had the second warmest winter in AZ history and the scorpions are already out and mating. I have cleaned up the property, raked, yard work, etc. I normally use Cy-Kick-CS mixed on the high concentrated side. I also use the DeltaGard G Granules - 20 lb. bag all around the exterior perimeter of my house and back yard. I also started spraying the brick wall perimeter in my backyard. I used to go out at night with a black light and kill 15-20 scorpions every night...EVERY Night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I hate scorpions. The problem has improved, but not as much as I would like.
    A

There is no valid reason to mix Cy Kick CS and Demand CS together, it would not make either product work better or produce better results, though it could make treated areas repellent to insect lessening the effectiveness of the treatment. We would recommend applying the Cy Kick CS and using glue boards also. Please refer to the article below for additional tips on treatment of scorpions including non-chemical methods that help in addition to the product. Please contact us at 866.581.7378 if you have additional questions.

    Q
How soon do you vacuum after using Demand CS for carpet beetles?
    A

Demand CS is not labeled to be used across open carpeted areas.  For inside the home, Demand CS is labeled to spray along baseboards, crack and crevices, and under appliances which is great for most insects but not for carpet beetles.   Please take a few minutes to read our How to Control Carpet Beetles article for an in depth explanation of how to control this pest.  It is very important that the source of the infestation (where the damaging larva is harboring) is discovered and eliminated, not just the visible adult insects you see wandering around. Until you find out what that is and deal with it you will continue to get more of the carpet beetles emerging from hiding.

    Q
What is the difference between Demand CS and Suspend CS, for bed bugs problem
    A
Bed Bugs have shown resistance to Suspend SC. Demand CS is microencapsulated and will have a longer residual. It takes more than one product to treat for Bed bugs and this is why we recommend using one of our Bed Bug Kits.

    Q
Can I mix/spray from an ordinary spray bottle?
...instead of purchasing a professional sprayer.
    A
According to the product label, it is recommended to mix and spray Demand CS using at least a one gallon pump sprayer. You will mix 0.2-0.8 oz. (6-24 milliliters) per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft depending on the insect you are treating.

    Q
Can I use Demand CS in Canada on private property without a license?
    A
Unfortunately, we are not familiar with Canadian law regarding the use of commercial pesticides like Demand CS by homeowners without a pest control license. Although, we do know that here in the United States, homeowners are able to use commercial grade insectides on their own property. Please be sure to check with your local government regarding regulations and/or restrictions.

    Q
When using Demand, can you spray this near bushes and shrubs and on grass?
Also, using this product in the home, where should you spray? Can you get some spray on the carpeting? I love this product and have had a professional use it twice a year and now I would like to save some money and try it myself. Can you provide some helpful hints in HOW to spray around the inside and outside of the house! Thanks in advance for your help!
    A
Yes, you can apply Demand CS on and around bushes and shrubs and on grass. In fact you want to spray around the outside perimeter 2-3 feet up and out. Indoors you want to spray cracks, crevices, baseboards. It will not stain should a small amount land on carpeting.

    Q
What's the main difference between Demand EZ and Demand CS?
I am intersted in killing household spiders, ants and roaches. Which product is for me? I would like the best result for the longest period of time at the cheapest price? Do you have a backpack style sprayer with the one arm pump.
    A
Demand CS and Demand EZ contain the same active ingredient, Lambda-Cyhalothrin and both are labeled for treating spiders, ants and roaches. Demand CS is applied every 90 days indoors and 30 days outdoors. Demand EZ uses a patented iCAP technology which means there is a coating over the substance that allows the insecticide to last up to six months without reapplying. The mix ratio for both is 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. Please refer to the product labels for more details on treatment areas.

    Q
What to use for Scorpion problem close to a swimming pool?
I have a scorpion problem in my backyard, and am concerned that the pesticides I use may runoff into my swimming pool and make the pool unhealthy to swim in. There is only about three feet between the pool and the exterior wall of the house in places, and on the opposite side of the pool there is an elevated flower garden secured with stacked bricks that may see runoff into the pool, as well. How concerned do I need to be about something like Demand CS or CyKick running off into the swimming pool?
    A
Demand would be a great product to use in the areas you specified. Your are not spraying the water directly and only spraying around the plants, cracks and crevices. Run Off is not an issue as long the treated area is allowed to dry before rain. Such a small amount tof active ingredient is left after dilution. Only enough to harm small insects. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Does the Demand CS help to keep ladybugs from infesting a camper?
Every year ladybugs infest our camper. We purchased a new camper and do not want them to infest it.
    A
Yes, the Demand CS would be a great option to use around any entry points on your camper to keep both ladybugs and a large variety of other insects out. You will want to spray once a month through at least November to make sure they are not getting in to overwinter.

    Q
How long will it take Demand CS to dry when applied inside for it to be safe for people to enter?
    A
How long it will take to dry will depend entirely on how heavily you sprayed the product and how well the air circulation in the home is. It could take 30 minutes up to 2 hours for a full dry time so keeping the people out of the home for at least 2 hours should be sufficient.

    Q
What is better to use to control sewer bug problem outside around house, Demand CS or Suspend SC?
I have been noticing sewer bugs (water bugs...EEEWWW) outside my house on the side walk or driveway when it is real humid out (1 -a few weeks ago & 1 -this morning) and I am worried they are going to come in my house. I was reading up on the different pesticides you have and all the reviews & I am not sure which one to get between Demand CS or Suspend SC. They both seem really good from the reviews but I wanted your opinion on what you think might work best.
    A
Both products have an active ingredient that is classified as a synthetic pyrethroid, so they really are very similar in the way that they work.  Suspend SC contains the active ingredient deltamethrin and is a bit more versatile when it comes to some pest treatments. Demand CS contains the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin, and it is micro encapsulated which will make it last a little bit longer in outdoor applications so would be the better product for you in your situation.

    Q
Some bird mites persist 2 days after treatment with Suspend Polyzone. Can we use Demand now?
    A
You want to wait 21 days to reapply. You do not want to over apply as it can irritate the mites causing them to frenzy. You can also use Sterifab as an on contact kill in the mean time.

    Q
Can I apply DEMAND CS via a Blag FLag Propane Fogger instead of using a hudson sprayer?
    A
We do not carry Black Flag Foggers and so we cannot make an accurate recommendation. We can say that in the foggers we do carry, the Demand CS particles are too large and have the potential to clog the fogger.

  • Asked by Chris from Winnipeg
    07/14/2013
    Q
Does Demand CS work on anthills?
    A
Yes, Demand CS will work on ant hills and you would want to do a mound drench on each to ensure the entire colony is affected. Mix the required amount of Demand to each gallon of water and drench each mound with 1-2 gallons of mixed solution to ensure it penetrates through the soil to the full depth of the mound and affects the queen. Just spraying over the top can often only affect half of the colony, and as the queen notices the death taking place around her, she will pick up and move and shut herself off from the colony and start a new one. If dealing with fire ants in particular, we recommend using a product that will affect the colony more as as whole like Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait. It not only is a food source that they will take back and feed to the colony including the queen, but it also contains a birth control to ensure no further colony growth. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
    Using Demand CS around herbs.
We are having a professional company apply Demand on our yard to get rid of fire ants. I will dig up my herbs prior to the application. When would it be safe to replant the herbs after the application of Demand? Or should I not replant at all?
    A
We would not recommend replanting in the area that has been treated with Demand CS. You can apply the product around the herbs, just not directly in the herb garden.
