Demon WP Insecticide - Questions & Answers

Demon WP is safe to use around children and pets when mixed and used correctly.  With most professional products such as Demon WP, once you mix it with water it is only strong enough to kill small insects.  You should always keep children and pets away from where you are treating.  Once the product has time to dry which usually only takes 30 minutes, it is safe for children and pets to re-enter the room.  Of course you should always keep any pesticide or cleaning product out of reach of children. 

Do not mix Demon WP until you are ready to use it and never mix more than you can use at one time. Demon WP should be used within 24 hours after being mixed with water.

Demon Max is made by the same company that makes Demon WP and they both contain the same active ingredient.  The main difference is Demon Max is more intended for use as a termiticide to treat and protect homes against termites.  Demon WP is more for insect control inside and outside homes. 

Demon WP is labeled for both indoor and outdoor use. Apply Demon WP to exterior door frames, window frames, places where utilities (cables pipes and wires) enter into the structure, eaves, soffits, around the bottom of the foundation and out onto the ground several feet. If you have an existing insect infestation, you may also need to spray indoors around the door frames, window frames, places where utilities (cables, pipes and wires) enter into the structure and around the baseboards. Demon WP will last for about 4 weeks outdoors and about 12 weeks indoors.

Demon WP is not a problem to use around pets as long as you apply it according to the product label. Once Demon WP is mixed with water, it is only strong enough to kill small insects. You would not want to leave the jar of Demon WP open where dogs could get into a large quantity of it. It is always a good idea to keep pets and children out of the area while you are treating. Once the product dries, usually after 30 minutes, it is perfectly fine to allow pets and children back in the area. However, all pesticides are very dangerous to fish and aquatic life. You would not want to use Demon WP or any other pesticide near a body of water. 50 yards away is a good distance, but if the land sloped down towards the pond, then there may be a concern. If it does not, it should not be a problem to treat around your home that is 50 yards away from the pond.

You should not need to spray indoors more than once a month for roach control if you are using Demon WP. Using Demon WP alone will not stop roaches from breeding and laying eggs. We recommend that you use an IGR (insect growth regulator) such as Gentrol to help stop juvenile roaches from reaching sexual maturity. We also recommend that you use a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel in cabinets, around counter tops, in drawers and around appliances to get rid of the roaches that hide in places that cannot be sprayed. By using all three products together, you will have a roach control program that will effectively get rid of your roach infestation. We offer all three products together in our Roach Control Kit #2. How long it will take to get rid of the infestation will depend on how heavy the infestation is and how good the sanitation is in your home. You can expect it to take 6 weeks to several months.

Yes! Demon WP is one of the most popular scorpion products on the market. Demon WP will kill scorpions that come into contact with treated areas plus it will kill the other insects that are around your home which is why the scorpions are there to start with.

Each Demon WP envelope comes with 4 water soluble packets, enough to make up to 4 gallons of diluted solution. Most homeowners use 1 gallon of diluted solution or less indoors and about 2 gallons outdoors per application . Depending on the insect you are trying to eliminate, you can spray once every 1-3 months. Please read the Demon WP product label to learn specific usage rates for the insect you are trying to eliminate.

You will mix one or two packets of Demon WP per one gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. It should be applied once a month on the exterior of the structure and once every 90 days to indoor cracks and crevices. Please refer to the product label for specific mixing and application instructions for the insect that you will be treating.

Fleas will die within minutes to an hour after contact with Demon WP Insecticide.  We also recommend to mix in a n IGR like Nyguard to help break down the reproductive cycle.

Demon WP is not labeled for bedbugs. We offer bedbug kits that contain all of the different products you need to eliminate bedbugs and re-treatments should be done every 7-10 days until you do not receive a bite for 30 days.  We also highly recommend using mattress and boxspring encasements to help eliminate bedbug infestations. Demon WP does not provide an instant knockdown of insects even if the insects are sprayed directly. You will see results over the next couple of days as the roaches come into contact with the treated areas and receive a lethal dose of the insecticide and they then succumb to the effects of the product. It is very important that you read and follow the product label to avoid contaminating sensitive areas. You can use a high quality roach bait gel such as the Advion Roach Bait Gel to treat areas where spraying would not be appropriate (counter tops, cabinets, drawers). The roaches will consume the bait and then go back to their nesting area and spread the bait which will help eliminate the roaches more quickly than spraying insecticides and IGRs alone. Getting rid of roaches is not a process that only takes only a few hours. Moderate roach infestations can take a few weeks to get rid of and severe infestations can take several months even when using all of the products needed (insecticide, IGR, roach bait) and sanitation is up to par.

Demon WP will kill wasps and yellow jackets as long as you apply it to a place where they will come into contact with it.  If you know where they are going in and out of their nest, you can treat that area directly in the early morning or late evening when they are not active.  If you do not know where the nest is then they can only be affected if they land on a surface that you treat.

No, Demon WP is not labeled for bed bugs.

We would recommend using Temprid SC. For your first treatment, you will use 16 mL per gallon of water and spray around the baseboards and cracks and crevices in the rooms where bed bug activity has been found. You will do follow up treatments every 10-14 days until there is no activity for 30 days. We would also recommend using Cimexa dust inside the wall voids. The bed bugs will walk over the dust and dry out. This can be applied with a hand duster. We would also recommend treating your mattress and box spring directly with Bedlam Insecticide. You will treat the tufts and seams of the mattress where bed bugs are likely to reside. Our Bed Bug Guide is a wonderful guide that we provide as well.

Yes, Demon WP will kill black widow spiders. You should note that Demon WP does not have a fast knock down and any insect sprayed directly with the product can continue to live for several hours.

Both the Demon WP 1 lb jar and the Demon WP envelopes should be used within 3 years of the date of purchase.

That is a hard question to answer because both work very well.  However, we do sell the Demon WP in our Roach Control Kits and it does work a little faster and provides a punch for quick knock down.  Sprays alone usually do not work.  You should use this along with a Roach Bait so the roaches have something to take back in the walls and other hiding places that you do can not spray.  Our Roach Control Kits have a very high success rate and incorporates sprays and baits.

Roach Control Information

Demon WP will last for about 30 days or more once applied from a sprayer.  Once mixed, Demon WP should be applied and none kept if your sprayer as a mix.  Since Demon WP is a wettable powder, if you store it in your sprayer for more than a week it will start to settle and can clog the hose or nozzles to your spray device.   You should always only mix what you can apply right then.

No, Demon WP will not plug up your sprayer, at least initially.  You definitely have to mix wettable powders very well before applying it.  You should fill the sprayer half way with water, scoop in the proper amount of product or drop in the Demon WP envelope, place the top on the sprayer and shake vigorously, then remove the top and fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water.  The sprayer should work fine but you should only mix what you plan on using that day.  Wettable powders will clog a sprayer when the solution is left in the sprayer overnight or for a long period of time.  The powder will settle, become clumpy at the bottom of the sprayer, and will clog the sprayer when you try to re-use it.  So only mix what you are going to use right then and you should have no problems.
