No, Tempo SC Ultra does not need to be applied directly on armyworms to be effective. Once armyworms and other labeled insects cross the treated area, their bodies will pick up the active ingredient. Per the product label for Turf Pests, apply 4ml to 8ml per 1000 sq ft or 6 to 12 fl oz per acre. Use high rate for heavier infestations or longer residual.
