Does Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate kill ants too?

My aspen trees are covered in ants and they have already killed two of my trees. I need to know if this product also controls my ant problem?

Answer:

Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate is not labeled for ants.  Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate is a soil drench which is taken up by the root system of the tree and then translocated internally throughout the plant, making it unavailable to any insect that is not feeding directly off of the tree. Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate will control aphids however and ants tend to be naturally drawn to trees that harbor aphids because they produce honeydew, an important food source for the ants. In many cases if you get rid of the aphids the ants ants will go away as well. If you want to directly control the ants you will need to choose a topical product such as Talstar P. You can spray the foliage and also around the base of the plants with Talstar P to control the ant population.
