Drilling concrete and burried utilities a concern?

Do I need to concern myself with buried water, gas, and or electrical pipes/lines when drilling 18" deep for treatment? Could my hot/cold lines be buried under garage slab or the like? Or is should there be some particular code that dictates the depth of these types of utilities coming from the home? I've got two stories on a 3 sided concrete basement. The basement exit has a small slap in the vicinity of the gas and electrical meter. Should I get it marked before trenching and slab drilling? Thanks.

Answer:

If you are not sure where the utulity lines are located on your property, it is always a good idea to have them marked before drilling to apply Termidor SC or any other product.  You can call 811 from anywhere in the country a few days before you are ready to drill to have someone come out and mark your utility lines.
