    Q
Can Drive XLR8 Herbicide be mixed with Momentum?
Can I mix this with lesco momentum for better control?
    A
As long as both products do not contain the same active ingredient, and both have labels that allow tank mixing in general then you should be able to mix the Drive and Momentum together. Per the Drive label: The most restrictive labeling applies with any tank mix. To increase spectrum of control of broadleaf and other weeds, Drive XLR8 may be tank mixed with 2,4-D, Triclopyr, and other broadleaf herbicides. Make sure to do a tank mix test first for any clumping or discoloring before applying to the lawn.

  • Asked by Sumi from Stillwater

    Q
Can I apply Drive XLR8 with a hose end sprayer? What kind of surfactant should I mix with this?
    A

Drive XLR8 is not recommended to be used in a hose end sprayer.

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Drive XLR8 Herbicide is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.45 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.45 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application. We carry DyneAmic Surfactant that can be mixed together with Drive.

  • Asked by Jay from Arnold, Maryland
    03/22/2015
    Q
In Maryland, approximately when should I apply Drive XLR8 w/ DyneAmic?
    A
We do not know the exact time of year you will start applying Drive XLR8 in Maryland. Weeds grow at different times in different regions and there is no way for us to know if the weeds have started growing in your area yet. According the Drive XLR8 product label you should start applying the product when the weeds are actively growing if you are using it as a broadcast spray. If you are using Drive XLR8 as a spot spray you should use tables 1, 2 and 3 on the product label and apply the product according to the turf species, rate and growth stages indicated in the tables. If you are not sure when the weeds start to actively grow in your region you can contact the master gardener at your local cooperative extension office for more information.

  • Asked by Michelle from Wilson, Kansas
    01/24/2015
    Q
I live in central KS and need to know how much chemical to use and when to apply it.
I plan to use Battleship for broadleaf weeds and Drive for annual bluegrass. Can the two chemicals be applied together or should it be two separate sprays? If separate, how far apart and when is the best time to apply them? I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
    A
Both chemicals can be applied together as long as you do a tank mix first to make sure no color changes or clumping occurs in the tank. The rates you apply them at should follow what each indicate for the type of turf you are spraying on and the weed you are treating for and follow the more strict application rules of either label. Since Battleship and Drive are both post emergent herbicides you would apply them whenever the weeds are actively growing and soil temperatures are above 55 degrees.

  • Asked by Jeff from Hyattsville, Md.

    Q
Does Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer contain quinclorac?
I was told to eliminate "creeping charley" To get product that contain this chemical.
    A
Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer contains Quinclorac 15.93%. Drive is not labeled to treat creeping charlie. Tenacity is labeled to control Ground Ivy "Creeping Charlie" as post emergent control. We highly recommend using a temporary turf colorant like Turf Mark Blue so that you can see where you spray with the Tenacity to avoid overlapping. Tenacity is a great product, but also a very strong product so too much overlapping or mixing the product too strong can cause temporary damage and whitening to your turf around the ground ivy. The color will come back in the lawn after 3-4 weeks but to avoid this potential problem it is best to use a colorant to make sure no overlap occurs. To get optimum results for post emergent control it is recommended you use a Non Ionic Surfactant in your mixture as well. Please make sure that you check the label to verify that it is safe for your type of turfgrass as you did not indicate the kind of lawn you will be applying the product to. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    A
We apologize you are having difficulty eradicating the mature crabgrass with Drive XLR. Are you using a surfactant with your mixture? Are you using the highest application ratio you can for your turf? For the best crabgrass control, you want to apply a pre emergent in the spring. Please visit our pre emergent crabgrass control page.
