    Q
    OK for Vinyl Siding?
Is this product okay to use on vinyl siding? Some wording on the product label causes me concern about using it on vinyl siding.
    A
It would not be recommended to spray EcoVia EC on vinyl siding because it is platic which is a sensitive surface that may be stained by oil based products. If overspray lands on any sensitive surfaces (particularly plastics), simply rinse with water and wipe off with a clean cloth.

  • Asked by Elle from Atlanta, Ga
    06/08/2014
    Q
What are precautions that need to be taken with application of this product?
What botanical oils are used? Is this listed as an acceptable product for organic agricultural use?
    A
These are the precautions per the label:
-May cause eye and skin irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Protective eyewear and nitrile or other chemical
resistant gloves are recommended, particularly when handling concentrate. Applicator should wash hands before eating, drinking,
chewing gum, using tobacco, or using the toilet. Remove clothing immediately if the product gets inside. Wash thoroughly and put on
clean clothing. Remove PPE after handling this product. Wash the outside of the gloves before removing.
-Do not use, pour, spill or store near heat or open flame.
-Do not use product in conduits, junction boxes, or other electrical equipment because of possible shock hazard.
-Product contains botanical oils that are inherently fragrant. When used in confined spaces, prolonged exposure to the scent may be
objectionable to some individuals. Clean up residual product to diminish scent.
-Product diluted per the label has not stained, discolored or caused damage to painted or varnished surfaces, fabrics, or other
surfaces in testing. However, test treat a small non-visible area and allow to dry, to determine whether staining or discoloration will
occur. If overspray lands on any sensitive surfaces (particularly plastics), simply rinse with water and wipe off with a clean cloth. Liquid
soap may be used for clean up if needed. Concentrate will likely damage susceptible materials such as thin plastics.
-Product has not shown phytotoxicity in testing when used as directed, but all plant types have not been tested, so if concerned
about particular plant sensitivity, test treat a small area first and wait 48 hours to determine if burning occurs.
-Product should not be applied directly to surface water.
The botanical oils that are used are thyme oil, rosemary oil, 2-Phenethyl Propionate, Polyglyceryl Oleate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Wintergreen Oil and Isopropyl Myristate.
This product is not labeled for use on edibles.

    Q
What is the best product with repellant/residual properties to keep wasps away?
I'm wondering if there is a residual spray that is safe around pets that I can use on the exterior that will act as a repellant for wasps and carpenter bees. Anything that has a few months residual strength? I live in CT and noticed many products are not allowed here.
    A
You can use EcoVia EC to treat around the structure for a wide variety of flying and crawling insects. You will need to treat surfaces where you have seen activity for carpenter bees. You can apply this product quarterly for general maintenance or repeat treatments more frequently if needed. EcoVia EC will not, however, provide instant knockdown of flying, stinging insects. For this application or for treatment of existing nests, you should use a wasp spray such as Wasp-X which can spray over 20 feet and has a unique foaming action to cover nests.

    Q
What about the runoff of EcoVia EC onto plants and flowers? Will the pollinating insects be killed? What about snakes, toads, lizards, plants, wildlife?
    A
EcoVia EC is liquid botanical insecticide that can be applied to areas where there is water as it will not harm aquatic organisms. It is not labeled to kill toads, lizards, snakes or other wildlife. A small scale test is recommended to verify safety of ornamental plants because phytotoxicity can occur. It will kill insects that are treated or land on the treated areas. Applications should be made when the pollinating insects are not in the area etc.

    Q
Can I use EcoVia EC safely in my vegetable garden?
We are alll about organic gardening but our eggplant leaves have holes in them.
    A

EcoVia EC is not labeled to be used on anything edible.  Organocide by Organic Labratories is ORMI certified and could be used.  It is a 3-in-1 Garden Spray, it works as a Fungicide, Insecticide, and Miticide but it will only kill the insects that are sprayed directly with it.

Another product that is natural and will leave more of a residual is Fertilome Triple Action Plus II with 70% Neem Oil.

Triple Action is not listed as organic but is all natural and is a very popular product for edibles.

    Q
Talstar P vs Green Products for Mosquito Control
I bought Talstar P from you guys to use in my Stihl SR 200 mister, and the stuff is outstanding! We have a mosquito free yard even after a few summer thunderstorms. My question is can I expect to get the same results from one of your green products? If so, which one would you recommend? My lot backs up to a few acre pond, and I have a small garden so I have second thoughts about using Talstar P again even though it works so well. We also have used Eradico in the past for mosquito control and would like to know what they spray. Thanks in advance!
    A
Yes, our green products would work just as well as Talstar P (Talstar One) does. We would recommend using EcoVia EC. It is a wonderful green product that has a residual of 3-4 weeks. You would use 2-4 fl. oz. per gallon of water for mosquitos in your mister. This product is not labeled to be sprayed on edibles but can be used as a broadcast across your lawn, ornamentals and trees. This product can also be used in a regular sprayer as well.

    Q
Pesticide to control spiders, flying gnats, mayflies and mud daubers
We are searching for a product suitable to be used around an aquatic setting. I am responsible for the upkeep of a large marina on a Federal Reservoir in Kansas. We suffer from an over-abundance of flying insects which attract spiders which attract mud daubers which irritates everyone. I need a pesticide that I can apply to the concrete walkways, metal support columns and the roof beams that will provide a contact and residual control of these predominant insects pests. As you may understand the problem is that we are a floating structure over the lake waters. Would you recommend a product for my application.
    A
EcoVia would be a good product to use over water as it poses no aquatic toxicity and is an all natural product.  It will not provide a contact kill and concentrates are not designed to do so once dry but will last about 2-3 weeks on exposed outside surfaces, longer on surfaces not exposed to the eliminates.
