ENTONEM is a package of live beneficial nematodes (Steinernema feltiae). Steinernema feltiae are entomopathogenic, or insecticidal, nematodes that are effective against larvae of various immature (larvae) dipterous insects such as Sciarid flies, fungus gnats, tipulids, and mushroom flies. These insect pests occur mainly in organic environments that are moist. These insects would normally cause damage to young plant material such as cuttings and seedlings.
The nematodes enter through openings in the larva like respiratoy openings, mouth, or anus. Once the nematode has entered the larva it begins to feed and a bacteria is released from inside the nematode that multiplies and spreads inside the insect rapidly. The bacteria breaks down the host larva into materials that the nematodes feed on.
