Doing a great job at preventing cedar apple rust
By Hide on 06/04/2025
Every year our apple tree have gotten fairly severely infected by cedar apple rust (CAR). We are in a southeastern Nebraska community surrounded by a bunch of trees including junipers and cedars so there is no option to avoid CAR presence. We sprayed Ferti-lome Copper Fungicide in mid-April and we had almost no yellow spots on the apple tree leaves for 4 weeks. We saw some more spots in mid-May and sprayed again, and we haven't seen any sign of CAR increase. Apples all look quite healthy this year for the first time. Our lawn and nearby plants & trees (lots of echinacea, beebalm, pea, pepper, zucchini, blueberry, rhubarb, strawberry, cherry, plum, lilac, etc.) and lawn have not been affected at all (or so it seems so far).
