  • Asked by Steven from Fort Worth, Tx
    03/25/2020
    Q
Will Ferti-lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4 kill poa anna in St Augustine grass?
    A

No, Ferti-lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4 is not labeled to kill poa annua. We recommend Certainty Herbicide instead.  You also want to be sure you are using a pre-emergent in late summer/early fall before soil temps fall below about 70 degrees. This will help prevent germination of poa the following winter/spring. Prodiamine, Pendimethalin, or Dithiopyr are great active ingredients for this application. We have more tips and product suggestions for preventing poa annua in your lawn here.

  • Asked by Darryl from Los Angeles, Ca

    Q
Is Ferti-lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4 a good product to use in Los Angeles,CA?
Trying to control crabgrass, dandelions, plantain, spurge etc.
    A

We recommend using a soil analysis test kit or taking a sample of your soil to your local cooperative extension so your soil can be analyzed to determine what nutrients your soil is lacking. The healthiest, hardiest lawns are fertilized 2-4 times per year, fall, summer, early spring and late spring.  Ferti-lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4 could be used if the nutrients it provides are what your lawn needs.

We do have soil test kits here.

  • Asked by M. from Gonzales, La
    04/16/2021
    Q
What setting should I use for my Scott's edge guard spreader with Ferti-lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4?
    A

Unfortunately we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their Ferti-lome St. Augustine Weed and Feed 15-0-4 bag. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this here.
