Food Grade local dealer said I could use Diatomaceous Earth 85% to get rid of Carpenter Ants. True???

I'm worried now that they suggested the wrong product and just paid out $17 for a bag of the Food Grade .

Answer:

Diatomaceous Earth alone will not get rid of ants and is not food grade DE. It may kill ants that cross a treated area, but it will not stop them from invading. You will need something they will carry back to the colony like the products in our Outdoor/Indoor Ant Kit Please check out our Carpenter Ant Guide.
