  • Asked by Brian from Stockbridge, Ga
    12/26/2015
    Q
What can I use to treat fungus on my photinias/red-tips?
I have a wall of redtips that are about 40ft long and close to 30ft high. over the past couple of years they have been thinning out and most are almost completely bare. I do get some new red growth but it seems to die rather quickly. The existing green leaves on two of the trees are in various stages from small red dots, to larger brown circles to a grayish black area encompassing 30% or more of the leaf. Is propiconazole or myclobutanil an effective treatment for this? Do you have a better alternative? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    A

One of the most popular products we sell for use on photinia/red-tip is Fung-onil Multi Purpose Fungicide Concentrate, which contains the active ingredient Chlorothalonil. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions. You could rotate this product with other active ingredients to avoid resistance. Eagle 20 EW contains Myclobutanil and is labeled for several photinia diseases. Honor Guard PPZ has propiconazole and is also labeled for photinia. Be sure you have a proper identification of the exact disease you are treating for best results, and so that you can adjust the soil conditions that are favoring that disease development.
