  • Asked by C. from Burleson, Tx
    04/08/2018
    Q
What is the mix rate and application instructions to apply GrazonNext HL Herbicide to 5 acres using a 4 gallon boomsprayer?
I've read the label on my grazon HL and I simply don't understand the mixing ratio or technique. Can I pour the grazon into the tank or do I premix it in 3 gl of water. Please give me direction on how to apply
    A

Without knowing the specific weeds you are targeting, we are unable to give an exact mix rate. GrazonNext HL Herbicide is applied at 19-34 fl oz per acre (43,560 sq ft). The amount of water will depend on how much water it takes to cover 1,000 sq ft thoroughly. Typically 1-2 gallons of water every 1,000 sq ft is sufficent, the label is recommending to use 3 gallons of water every 1000 sq ft to ensure the active ingredient in  GrazonNext gets into the soil. Please see the break down below.

To treat each of the 5 acres, you would need 130 gallons of water for each acre. ** 1 acre = 130 gallons of water (3 gal of water x 43,560 sq ft (sq ft in acre)

You would need to refill your sprayer approx 3 times to thoroughly treat 1 acre.

Depending on what weeds you are targeting, you will divide the 19 fl oz, 24 fl oz or 34 fl oz mix rate per acre and divide by 3 (the # of times you will fill the 40 gal sprayer) .

Low Rate 19 fl oz / 3 tank fills = 6.3 fl oz per tank

Mid Rate 24 fl oz / 3 tank fills = 8 fl oz per tank

High Rate 34 fl oz / 3 tank fills + 11.3 fl oz per tank

You can mix the GrazonNext directly into the tank. To prepare the spray, add about half the required amount of water in the spray tank. Then, with agitation, add the specified amount of GrazonNext HL and other registered tank mix herbicides. Finally, with continued agitation, add the rest of the water and additives such as surfactants or drift control and deposition aids.

GrazonNext HL Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide so it can be used any time the weeds are in an actively growing state. If the weeds are apparent now, then you can use the product now to try and eliminate them. The rate range for GrazonNext HL Herbicide is 1.2 to 1.5 pints (19 to 24 fluid oz) product per acre. Please provide details on your application for specific information.

  • Asked by Cathy from Riverview, Florida
    07/17/2018
    Q
How soon can you put horses back on pasture after spraying GrazonNext HL Herbicide?
    A

There are no restrictions for when you can allow animals to graze on areas treated with GrazonNext Herbicide. We would always recommend waiting for the application to dry completely before allowing animals to re-enter a treated area. Please be sure to read the product label completely regarding restrictions on use of and transport of hay, use of manure, and movement of animals since manure and urine from animals consuming grass or hay treated with this product may contain enough aminopyralid to cause injury to sensitive broadleaf plants.

How many ounces of GrazonNext do I use per gallon of water to kill thistle?

    A

The rate at which you apply GrazonNext HL Herbicide will depend on the specific type of thistle you are treating. For sowthistle, prickly sowthistle, Canada thistle, or scotch thistle, you would use 1.5 - 2.1 pints per Acre, or 0.5 - 0.78 oz per 1000 sq ft. For spot treating with a 1-2 gallon sprayer, you would use the 1,000 sq ft rate in 1 gallon of water. For larger areas, the exact amount of water needed with depend upon your spray equipment and at what speed the product is applied. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

    Q
Is GrazonNext HL Herbicide the same as a Grazon post-emergent broadleaf herbicide?

    A

GrazonNext HL Herbicide has the same active ingredient as Grazon, which appears to be a Canada product and not available in the US.  They would be comparable to each other
