I live in Central Florida and my property is sand and ants with some grass and trees. We have horses, dogs and cats. Can you please tell me what product you would suggest?
We would recommend using Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait that is labeled for a broad range of ants. Applying just before dark is the best time to apply as ants mostly forage at night. You also want to apply when there will be no rainfall for 24 hours. Extinguish plus is not a quick acting solution, it can take up to 4-7 days to see results, but is a great product to destroy ant colonies including the queen. It is recommended to broadcast the treatment instead of mound treat for best results, and you should apply the product where the ground is in the sun, since this is where fire ants will nest. You can use this product on pastureland, however you must remove all grazing livestock for at least 48 hours after application. Then they can return to the land after 48 hours. To determine when ants are foraging, place a potato chip near the mound. If ants do not feed in a few minutes, try the test again later and apply product when feeding occurs.
