Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran is labeled to treat Wooly Adelgids on Hemlock Trees as a soil drench application. Since the trees vary in DBH measurements, it would be best to treat each tree individually to ensure each tree gets the recommended amount of active ingredient to the root zone. Per the product label, use 1.25 tsp to 5 tsp per inch of trunk diameter in a sufficient amount of water to thoroughly and evenly distribute the mixed solution around the base of the tree to the root zone. Apply 1-4 pints of drench solution per foot of height (shrubs) or inch of trunk diameter (trees). Adjust drench volume based on soil type, soil moisture and thickness of mulch so that product is moved into root zone. For example, a hemlock tree that is 11 inches at DBH, you would use 1-4 pints of mixed solution and apply for a 1ft (12 inch) radius around the base of the tree to the root zone.
