I have a separate nest in the foundation if my house now too.
If you know where the nest is you can use a dust such as Tempo dust puffed into the nest using a hand duster and around the opening of the nest. This type of application usually will kill the nest of wasps over the course of a few days. Most wasp and hornet sprays only contain pyrethrins which is an active ingredient that will only kill insects that come into contact with it while it is wet. Most folks do not want to have to spray down every bee or wasp in a nest with the wasp and hornet spray so they apply the dust.
