    A
Although, Hi Yield 38 Plus is not labeled to treat spittle bugs, we do not see why it would not kill them when they come in contact with the treated area. We recommend using a product called Hi Yield Bug Blaster 2.4 % which is labeled to treat Spittle bugs.

    Q
What color is the Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control in the bottle before dilution?
Some say white others say mild amber which is best?
    A
According to the MSDS sheet for the Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control - 38% Permethrin the product is a light amber in color.  We have spoken with the manufacturer and last year they did change their formula to a water based solution that makes the product more gentle on plants, less odor, and is now a milky white color.

  • Asked by Elaine from Edmond, Oklahoma

    Q
How much Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Contr ol per/gal of water to treat cicada killers and burrows?
I have my home for sale. People including realtors will not walk through the yard because of the swarms.
    A
The Hi Yield can be used at the rate of almost an ounce (0.8) per gallon of water. You will want to spray the lawn and surrounding ornamentals and trees with a heavy layer of the product. For more thorough control you need to treat the burrows directly with a dust rather than a spray as the spray doesn't normally travel as far in the nest as the dust will. A recommended dust would be Tempo 1% Dust as it has a quick knock down of any flying stinging insects. If it makes you feel any better, although they look menacing due to their size, cicada killers are actually beneficial to the environment and wont harm you unless you were to physically force it on your skin to bite. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
After it drys on the grass/plants and it rains or dewy does Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control become toxic?
My dog tends to eat grass when her stomach is upset. Also she will lick her paws and I don't want her licking or eating grass that has been treated is that an issue? Also once it drys and becomes wet or moist can she lay in the grass with no issues?
    A
There will only be very small diluted deposits of Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control on your lawn and the small amount that you pet may ingest should not have any effect. The rain will not cause the grass to become harmful to your dog.

  • Asked by Shari from Lexington, Texas

    Q
What is most effective product and treatment against scorpions outside and inside our home?
We currently have a bottle of "High Yield 38 Plus." The Permethrin content is 38%. Since we have this product, do you think it would be effective against scorpions? What other suggestion?
    A
While you could use the Hi Yield 38 Plus for scorpion control, a better option would be something that sits on the surface better and lasts longer. Cy Kick CS and Onslaught FastCap Spider and Scorpion spray are the two best options for scorpion control. Both products are easy to mix with water and spray around the home. Not only will they kill scorpions, but will also kill all the other insects present around your home that they are feeding on. Since scorpions have thicker skin, you will need to spray a wider barrier around your home. Spray 2-3 feet up on the side and a minimum of 6 feet out on the ground. Make sure to also spray other entry points of the home like where wires/pipes enter the house, window frames and door frames.

    Q
Can you use 38-plus to treat scale on Pinon Pines?
I see that Permthrin 2.5, scale is listed. Why is it not listed on the Hi-Yield 38-plus?
    A
We really cannot say for sure why the manufacturer did not include scale on their listed pests on the product label. We do recommend that you stick with a product that specifically lists your target pest for best results. Most of the master gardeners recommend Acephate as the needed active ingredient to control this scale. We carry Acephate 97 UP and it is labeled for control of the crawling stage of the scale.

  • Asked by Glenda from Corpus Christi,tx
    07/02/2012
    Q
Will Hi-Yield 38-Plus work for cockroaches?
    what is concentration for cockroaches
    A
Hi Yield 38 Plus can be used outdoors only for cockroaches (do not use indoors). According to the product label: Mix 1.6 fl Oz. (3 1/4 Tablespoons) of this product per 1 gallon of spray solution to make a 0.5% spray emulsion. Spray a 6 to 8 foot wide band of soil around the perimeter of the house. Treat the foundation wall to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Use a spray volume of 2 to 10 gallons of 0.5% emulsion per 1,000 square feet. If mulch or debris is present, a higher volume application rate may be needed to ensure adequate coverage. Note: Residual control will vary depending on exposure of the treated area to weathering conditions (temperature, sunlight, moisture). Retreat on a monthly schedule while insects are likely to be active. If you need to treat indoors we recommend our Roach Control Kit #2. This kit comes with all of the necessary products needed to treat an indoor infestation and enough product to use outdoors to stop new roaches from moving in.
