  • Asked by Luis from San Antonio, Tx
    09/20/2018
    Q
When can I apply Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide and would it work for crabgrass already present?
    A

Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide can be applied from late summer through early fall (late August through November). When applied in the fall, a sequential or second application of this product must be made the following spring to provide season-long control of crabgrass. We would recommend contacting your local extension office for the exact best time to apply this product in your area. This product is only a pre-emergent product that prevents weeds from germinating. It will not kill any actively growing weeds.

    Q
How often can I apply Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide?
    A

Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide is generally applied in spring and fall depending on your region and what weeds you are targeting.  Per the product label: Do not apply more than 9.2 lb of this product per 1,000 sq. ft. per application and no more than 27.6 lb of this product/1000 sq. ft. per year (equivalent to 0.5 and 1.5 lb of active ingredient (ai) per acre, respectively).  It would be a good idea to contact your local cooperative extension office for advice on the best times to apply in your area.

  • Asked by Santiago from Boca Raton, Florida
    04/18/2018
    Q
Does it make sense to apply pre-emergent more than twice a year in South Florida lawn?
I have St. Augustine (floratam) lawn in S. FLorida where the temperature never really drops below 50 for more than a few days at a time. It seems like weeds never stop germinating. Does it make sense to apply this product more than once in spring and fall? How much time should I leave in between? Thank You
    A

When using Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension, you can either do more frequent applications using less product, or you can use higher rates and apply less frequently. There is an annual maximum rate that you can use, however, so if you are still needing additional weed control, then you may need to alternate with a different pre-emergent product. There is a maximum single application rate of 9.2 lbs per 1000 sq ft, and an annual maximum of 27.6 lbs per 1000 sq ft per year. The 4-4.7 lb rate will give you 3-4 months of control, so if you used that rate 3-4 times annually then you would still be within the annual range.

Keep in mind that not all weeds can be controlled with Dimension, and not all plants can be controlled with any pre-emergent herbicide. So for the best treatment plan, be sure you have identified all the target weeds so you can have a comprehensive treatment plant. Let us know if you need further assistance!

    Q
How soon should Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide be watered in?

The turf herbicide and fertilizer components in Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide are not effective until activated by rainfall or irrigation. • Asked by Tom from Abilene, Texas
    03/05/2015
    Q
Can Hi-Yield Weed & Grass Stopper be applied on melting snow?
I live in Texas where when it snows it usually melts in 12 hours. Such is the case today. Can the product be applied on ice or snow and allowed to soak in slowly instead of watering it in or does the snow/ice negatively effect the product?
    A
You do not want to apply herbicides or pesticides directly on snow or ice or to any soil that is frozen. You should wait until any snow or ice has melted and either soaked into the ground or evaporated. You can contact your local cooperative extension for the best timing for your pre-emergent application in your area.

  • Asked by Mark from Charleston, Sc
    03/01/2017
    Q
Have I missed my key time for applying Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide?
I live in the Carolinas area, and I started seeing weeds weeks ago. Problem is, we are having record highs here, and the weeds are already shooting up, but we are having very cool nighttime temperatures. Should I go ahead and give this product a go or wait until the fall and try earlier next spring?
    A

If you are already seeing weeds now it is too late to apply a product like Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide, generally in the southeast pre-emergents should be applied between February 1st to March 1st, though weeds have germinated sooner this year due to mild winters.

  • Asked by Michael from Tracy
    10/25/2018
    Q
Can Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide be applied in the winter months to control crab grass next year or apply again in the spring?
    A

The best time to apply pre-emergent herbicides such as Hi Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide is when the soil temperature is consistently above 55 degrees Fahrenheit, so not during winter months.  It would be a good idea to contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best timing for your specific area.

  • Asked by Gilbert from Pittsburg, Tx
    05/07/2018
    Q
Is it safe to apply another weed killer such as 2-4-D with Hi-Yield w/ Dimension? To kill weeds like nutsedge
    Or dandelions, poa annua.
    A

You can use another herbicide at the same as using a pre-emergent such as Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension as long as you are following the product labels for what you are using. If you are putting down a post-emergent at the same time as your pre-emergent, then you will want to delay watering-in the pre-emergent for at least a day so that you do not wash away the post-emergent. (The Hi-Yield with Dimension must be watered in to be activated.) Most 2,4-D products will control dandelion, but that active ingredient will not kill nutsedge or poa annua. If you would like to tell us what type of turfgrass you have, then we can recommend products to kill these weeds.

  • Asked by Adam from Walkersville, Md
    04/25/2019
    Q
If I were to overseed in early September, how long would I have to wait to apply Hi Yield with Dimension after seeding?
    A

If you plan to overseed you would want to wait until the seed has come up and been mowed at least twice or wait at least 4-6 weeks (whichever comes first) before putting down an application of Hi Yield with Dimension. Normally seeding and pre emergents cannot be used in the same season due to the timing needed for each being so close together.

  • Asked by Dann from Newburgh, Indiana
    03/19/2021
    Q
Will Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide kill poa annua that has germinated?
    A

Hi-Yield Weed & Grass Stopper with Dimension will not kill existing poa annua. It is a fantastic product and one of many we carry that would do a great job of preventing poa annua germination when applied at the right time. It can be hard to get rid of poa annua in lawns with a post-emergent, depending on what kind of turfgrass you may have. If you want to let us know what turf you have we can see if we have a post-emergent product that would work for you.
