    Q
How much Honor Guard do I use in teaspoon amount per each gallon of water?
    A
It is really much easier if you use the measuring device that is attached to the bottle than to try to use a teaspoon to measure. With the measuring device on the container all you need to do is squeeze the bottle until the correct amount of product is in the measuring chamber, unscrew the cap, and pour the product into your sprayer.

The first thing you need to know when using a fungicide such as Honor Guard PPZ  is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to read the product label to find out how much product you need for the disease you are trying to treat. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area and that is the amount you will want to mix with the measured product for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

    Q
You say apply 1/2 inch of water after application of Honor Guard PPZ Fungicide with 14.3% Propiconazole. What is the reason? How much later can it be?
In Naples, water restrictions limit when you can water. It might not be immediately after applying propiconazole.
    A

It is recommended to water in herbicide products like Honor Guard PPZ because typically they need to get down to the root system, and the main way to do this is to water the lawn so the product can make its way to the roots.  You can also apply more water when performing the treatment for the same effect. If you apply the product before a rain event, that is even better.

    Q
Would Honor Guard Be Effective for Turf Brown Patch ?
I have Brown Patch fungus in my lawn and am looking for a fungicide for control. I had Brown Patch last year and the year before and each fall reseeded the dead areas of the lawn. This year I did a light top dressing of compost as a method of control I read about in a University study. It looks like the Brown Patch has slowed, but I would like I would like to know if Honor Guard would be a good choice to treat this fungus. I have both a tank sprayer and hose end sprayer.
    A
Honor Guard PPZ Fungicide is labeled for brown patch and when used as directed on the product label should do a good job helping you to eliminate this disease.

  • Asked by Isaac from New City Ny

    Q
How much Honor Guard do i need to mix in a backpack sprayer per gallon for Red Thread?
    A
With Herbicides and Fungicides the mixture is different in how you apply it. You will want to make sure you are using the correct about of product, over the correct amount of area. The water purely acts as the carrier to distribute it so whether it takes you 2 gallons or 10 gallons, both are correct. The Honor Guard label says to use 2 ounces per 1000 sq/ft for Red Thread so you would be safe mixing 2 ounces per 2 gallons of water as that is the average that is recommend for herbicides.

    Q
Can I mix Honor Guard PPZ Fungicide with Surflan Pro to apply at the same time?
Applying to a tall fescue lawn in California and need to apply both products and doing both together would be faster.
    A

Yes, you can tank mix the Honor Guard with the Surflan Pro. If Honor Guard PPZ is tank mixed with other products, make sure to provide proper agitation during and after mixing to ensure uniform suspension. First, Fill tank at least 1/2 full of clean water then add the proper amount of Honor Guard. Please be sure to allow time for complete mixing and dispersion before adding the Surflan (keep it agitated). Once it has been well mixed then you can add the proper amount of the the Surflan Pro. Once again, be sure to keep it agitated and allow time for it to completely mix before spraying.
