I have a problem with Sri Lanka Weevils on my Lemon Meyer tree. I was reading through the Q&A and the same questions kept getting asked about spraying on fruits and vegetables. Well, my tree doesn't have fruit, due to the invasive weevils. So here are my questions. I was wondering how long I have to wait after spraying my tree down to eat from it? If I spray it before I get fruit and then my tree blooms a month later will that fruit be safe? Will it effect other trees nearby and is it in anyway systemic? How far would you suggest spraying Talstar P from my vegetable gardens? Is it safe to do a perimeter spray of my veggie gardens as long as I don't spray the plants? Will Talstar P kill grubs and is it safe to spray on a lawn with fruit trees nearby?
Since Talstar is not labeled to spray on fruit trees or any other edible vegetation we really cannot offer advice on using the product for this type of application. We do have many products from Fertilome and Hi-Yield on our site that are specifically labeled for the use you have outlined. Talstar is not a systemic and it can be used outside of the dripline for your plants and trees. Talstar is not labeled for grubs because it binds down to the soil and cannot move far enough below the surface to effect the eggs or grubs. We do have Merit Granules that can be used for grubs in your lawn.
