I have been using a pest control spray that will kill them but not prevent them from coming back again the same day I sprayed my home. They seem to like wet places like the bathroom exhaust vents.
It sounds like the flies could be drain flies. Before we make a valid recommendation please be sure to have the fly positively identified. you can contact Your Local Cooperative Extension Office and speak with the Entemologist on staff. Once the fly is identified we can work together to develop a successful game plan to eradicate these flies.
