How does the pre and post emergent watering work?

As a post emergent it is said to let it dry from 2 to 3 hours and it is rain fast, then it is stated that if you want to use it as a pre-emergent to make sure it is watered in at some point within 10 days. Exactly how does that work? If it is rainproof in 2 to 3 hours how does watering it in say 5 days later (if no rain) break up the product that is supposedly rain proof and get it in the soil? Also, would this not be the way to always apply it, in that you let it dry for 3 hours (post emergent requirement and weed kill) and then it rains 5 days later and you magically get the pre emergent factor. Post and pre emergent control all in one. Am I wrong thinking that??

Answer:

When using Tenacity Herbicide  as a post emergent application you are only spot treating the weeds directly per the product label not broadcasting across the entire lawn like you would when applying as a pre-emergent.  It is recommended to apply when no rain is expected within 24 hours if treating active weeds so it has enough time to dry and be absorbed by the weeds.  For pre-emergent applications you need to water it in so it gets down in the soil to create the barrier.
