For Northern Lawns you would mix 4 ounces per 1000 sq/ft and for Southern Lawns you would use 2 ounces per 1000 sq/ft. The amount of water you use is not important as that only acts as a carrier. The key is getting the right amount of product over the right amount of area, so whether you use 1 gallon or 5 gallons of water, they are both correct.
