How much Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran is needed for treating hemlock woolly adelgids on a hemlock with a 27 inch circumference?

The hemlock is severely infested. How much do I measure using the plastic measuring cup that came with Safari and how much water for bark spraying?

Answer:

The rate for Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran is 12-24 oz per gallon depending on bark type and thickness. 1 gallon of spray solution will typically cover 65-85" of cumulative trunk diameter (1.5-2.0 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter) when applied to trunk between soil surface and 4-5 feet above soil surface.  A hemlock measuring 27 inches in circumference would be a DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) of 8.5 inches.  Please view the product label for more information.
