We've used a different but similarly designed, and effective, fly trap in the past, but after using it for about a week there was a horrible smell all around the area where we hung the trap. At first we thought we had a dead animal under our deck, but then realized it was coming from the fly trap. Will this one do the same? They're too expensive to throw away very often. Note: Our temps rarely go above 80-85 degs.
Yes, there is often a foul odor with most flie traps and this is because flies are attracted to filth. The Flies Be Gone Fly Trap can be used for at least 3 months. Water and a pinch of dirt can be added to the trap to keep in usable for a longer period than 3 months. The Flies Be Gone Fly Trap should be placed at least 30-50 feet away from the area that you are wanted to keep flies away from so that the odor is not noticable.
