We have washed our clothes (in 128* water) and dried them in dryer (120* heat). We have left them in the dryer for up to 80 minutes. Immediately, we place the clothes in heavy duty plastic bagging and seal it.The clothes STILL have LIVE bed bugs. We have used special laundry detergent that was supposed to kill them... it didn't. We have used vinegar, bleach, borax and just about any "home remedy" suggestion to no avail. After months of dealing with these horrid things, we are desperate for solutions. Could the washer and dryer be infested and actually contributing to the problem? HELP!!!
We have never heard of bedbugs living through a heat cycle on the dryer. There is no chance that they are actually living inside and infesting the drum of the dryer. We might recommend 1. getting a second opinion on the bugs you are pulling out of your clothes as bedbugs do not typically widely infest clothing in the way that you describe as there is no food source and hence no reason for them to be there. 2. If it is found to be bedbugs you may want to consider having the clothing taken to a dry cleaner where the clothing will go through industrial dryers and be steam pressed.
