If I treat my acreage and my neighbor doesn't, are my ants migrating to his place?

Some years ago at a fire ant control workshop, they said baits need to be applied to neighboring properties at the same time as my application so as not to just chase the ants from one property to the next. Since this product has insect growth regulator is it still important to coordinate application?

Answer:

Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait will not cause Fire Ants to migrate to neighboring properties however that is not to say colonies may not develop or relocate there. The active ingredient Hydramethylnon is a slow-acting poison (delayed toxicity) that needs to be eaten to be effective. Slow-acting modes of action are desirable when controlling social insects, such as ants or termites, because then they live long enough to return to the colony to share it with other insects.

Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait also contains the insect growth regulator Methoprene that will stop the Queen from reproducing as the bait is shared throughout the colony.
