Natural and organic insecticide uses naturally derived active ingredients to control insects in your lawn. These insecticides are often derived from plants, like essential oils (cedar oil, rosemary oil, peppermint oil, geraniol, etc), and pyrethrins. They can also be from minerals, like with boric acid or diatomaceous earth.

Each type of product will work differently to control insects. Products like diatomaceous earth work on soft-bodied insects by making small abrasions, causing insects to dry out. Oils usually work by smothering insects, and some essential oils and pyrethrins can interfere with neurological processes.
Remember, even though a natural or organic insecticide may be reduced risk, it can still be toxic, if not to humans it can be toxic to other animals or non-target insects. Read all labels very carefully, especially any warnings or precautions, and follow them closely. Make sure the product you choose can be used on your lawn, it will control the target insect pest, and whether it has risks to fish, bees, or other animals.
