Cindy from Kansas, Il writes

Is it common to see fine webs along with carpenter ants?

Answer:

Normally if you see webbing formed around carpenter ants, or any other ant species, its normally where some form of spider has come through trying to set up residence in that area. It would be "easy picking" for the spider since ants are a prominent food source.
