I started seeing carpenter ants in my bathroom and laid out Maxforce bait for the first time yesterday. I squirted it everywhere I had seen ants. I thought they would take it back to the colony and it would kill the rest of them. Instead, I woke up to an ant graveyard less than 12 hours later. Do I need to switch to a different bait?
Yes, this is normal to see ants die rather quickly or almost immediately after putting out Maxforce Fleet Ant Bait Gel. Ants feed on the bait before taking it back to the colony while also contacting the bait with their bodies. Ants are social insects and groom each other constantly which will cause older or weaker ants to die quicker than anticipated.
Another reason for seeing immediate results after baiting is due to the colony as a whole, kicking out ants that are showing signs of sickness or poisoning. This is done as a protective measure by the colony however, by this point- the active ingredient has already transferred by feeding and by contact throughout other ants in the colony.
Continue to replace bait placements as needed to ensure the entire colony is eliminated. Please view our Ant Treatment Guide for more information.
