Is it okay to use Bifen XTS over an area that was sealed with an oil based sealant?

The underside of our camper is "raw" (unfinished) OSB, so, it cannot be treated / painted with any water base material. I want to "seal" this area and protect it from wood bees. So, the idea is to treat this area with an oil base insecticide, let dry well, then paint it with an oil base sealer or primer. Will low odor paint thinner or mineral spirits affect the pesticide properties of Bifen XTS? Or would a different product be better?

Answer:

We recommend applying the sealant on first before performing a treatment with insecticides. When using Bifen XTS it is possible that it will affect the sealant put down prior because of the xylene base in the Bifen XTS product. With the possiblity of Bifen XTS having an affect on the sealant we recommend using Bifen I/T which is water based and has the same active ingredient as Bifen XTS. Bifen I/T as well as Bifen XTS are both highly toxic to bees.
