The B&G 2600 fogger is a little of both. It has a handle, so you can hold it and direct it into cracks and crevices and underneath appliances. You can set it on the floor and the hose will attach to the unit,so it can be left alone to fog a room for awhile without holding it. Typically, when you fog a room you would walk around the perimeter first and direct the hose in the hard to reach areas, and then set the fogger down in the middle of the room to fog the general space. If you are going to be in the room long enough to fog specific areas, you want to make sure you are wearing the proper safety equipment.
