I purchased this along with the Catchmaster 612 to see how they would work, also to compare them. Using a single catch Havahart was just not doing the job. We are on 120 acres with nothing but country for miles. I just wanted to knock down the mouse population in the barn. They will never be NO mice here, but less is great.
This trap WORKS! You have to give it a few days (at least) for the mice to “accept” it. It does its job well. I use peanut butter inside by the vents. I also clean the droppings and old bait out every couple of days, keeping fresh bait in it daily. I have had no escapes (that I know of) and almost always catch with this! It can be a bit difficult to see them thru the small window at times. Not as easy as the larger Catchmaster 612. But it is more streamlined and has a smaller footprint in my barn stalls. When the lid gets a tiny bit loose from opening to release many times, I just use pliers and bend it a bit. If kept tight, I cannot imagine them being strong enough to escape. This is worth the $$, in my opinion. It is simple to use and works!
