Brian from Greenville, Sc writes

I live in South Carolina, when should Tenacity be applied to bermudagrass for pre emergent control of yellow nutsedge?

Answer:

Tenacity Herbicide is only labeled as a post emergent for nutsedge and does not offer any pre emergent qualities for yellow nutsedge. Also, Tenacity can only be safely applied when bermudagrass is fully dormant in late fall and winter and should not be applied in spring or summer to bermudagrass. Unfortunately, there is not a pre emergent labeled for nutsedge and is best controlled using a post emergent when it is first emerging to get control of it. Dismiss Turf is labeled for yellow and purple nutsedge, kyllinga and many other harder to kill weeds in bermudagrass at the rate of 0.18 - 0.275 fl oz per 1000 sq ft.
