Tom from Salisbury Nc writes

Located in North Carolina, can Fusilade II Herbicide be applied in late March at the labeled rate for June 1st applications to actively growing bermuda in my dormant established zoysia lawn?

Using safe June rate per label, will this catch Bermuda without stifling zoysia wake up a few weeks later? Understand that a few more applications needed, but this seems like a great window unless zoysia is vulnerable pre wake up.

Answer:

We would recommend contacting the manufacturer or the County Extension office for specific timing recommendations on using Fusilade II Herbicide to kill bermudagrass in zoysiagrass earlier than recommended on the product label. Otherwise, you will want to wait until the recommended time on the product label of “late spring around June 1st” to ensure the bermuda is completely out of dormancy.  Follow the recommended rates in the Over-spray Zoysiagrass Section on page 11 of the product label.  Syngenta can be reached directly at 904-718-1845 for more information.
