    Q
It is stated not to use Martin's TopShot Weed Killer above 90 degrees?
Does this mean not to use when the max temperature of the day is going to be above 90 degrees for the day like in the afternoon or does it mean to wake up early in the morning before the temperature goes above 90 and apply it while the temperature is still in the 80's......Houston weather the only time in the summer would be early morning of late evening for an application if this is the case. Please advise

  • Asked by Joe from Sulphur, La
    10/08/2019
    Q
How much water should be used with one ampule of Martin's TopShot Weed Killer in a hand pump sprayer?
The directions for a hand pump sprayer state it uses 1-3 gallons of water. You say to fill up the sprayer and add Top Shot and treat. Well , do you use 1 gallon , 2 gallons, or 3 gallons. If you use one gallon it is going to be stronger than if you use 3 gallons. Do you have specific gallons of water to use with a pump up sprayer? 1,2,or 3?
    A

The Martin's TopShot Weed Killer package contains 2 ampules, and each one covers 2,500 sq ft. You can use anywhere from 1-3 gallons of water to dilute the product to treat that 2500 sq ft area. The lower volume will be better for fewer weeds or less dense growth, while the higher volume will be better for denser weed growth so that you have sufficient coverage on the targe weeds. Keep in mind that when using herbicides, it is most important to use the correct amount of active ingredient for the size area you are treating, and you can just think of the water as a carrier for that active ingredient.

    Q
Will Martin's TopShot Weed Killer kill wandering jew?
Wandering jew is in day flower family I believe.
    A

Martin's TopShot Weed Killer does not list daylily or wandering jew as controlled so we cannot confirm it would kill it. We would recommend a product that contains triclopyr such as Monterey Spurge Power for more complete kill on this plant. Cultural practices such as removing all plant litter and bringing native plants into the area to better compete will also help to eradicate this plant.

  • Asked by Ben from Hampstead, Nc

    Q
How long after I apply TopShot Weed Killer should I wait to overseed with carpetgrass?
I am starting to see signs of bitter cress in my lawn and I plan to over seed with carpet grass this spring.
    A

Since Martin's TopShot Weed Killer is not labeled as safe to use on carpetgrass, we would not recommend using it on this type of turf at all. A great product to use for post-emergent control of bittercress in carpetgrass would be Dismiss Herbicide. After applying Dismiss Herbicide, you would need to wait at least one month before overseeding. You can view full application directions on the product label here.
