    Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide is no longer stable after it has frozen and then thawed back out. We would not recommend using it.

     The product label states, "Apply Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide to plants such as, but not limited to, Aglaonema, Aphelandra, Arborvitae, Azaleas, Bougainvillea, Boxwood, Cattelya skinneri, Ceanothus, Cotoneaster, Cissus, Diffenbachia, English ivy, Eucalyptus, Ficus, Hibiscus, Japanese andromeda, Japanese Holly, Leather Leaf Fern, Peperomia, Photinia, Pittosporum, Philodendron, Pieris, Pothos, Rhododendron, Roses (container, landscape, mini varieties), Schefflera, Sedum, Sempervivum, Syngonium, Spathiphyllum, Taxus media, and Zygocactus." The application rate will depend on the specific disease you are targeting.

    Can Monterey Garden Phos be use to treat leaf curl on an peach tree leaf and whatbis the ratio for application

    Though Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide is labeled to be used on stone fruits such as peaches, it is not specifically labeled to target leaf curl. Instead, you may use a product like Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.

    Monterey Garden Phos can be used to treat and prevent sudden oak death and many other oak diseases. It is applied at the rate of 16 fl oz Monterey Garden Phos + 16 fl. oz. of water + 1.6 fl. oz. PentraBark.. Please see the label for full application instructions.

    What is the mix rate for Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide to treat root rot of indoor plants (Pelargoniums)
    I bought this product from you to cure or control root rot in my Pelargoniums. There is no specific dosage listed for Pelargoniums, which are not real Geraniums. There IS a listing for REAL Geraniums under "bedding plants", but Monterey support told me to use the dosage found under "ornamentals". The dosage (for soil drench) is flaky. It says, 1/2 - 6 FLUID OUNCES per 1 - 5 GALLONS. in other words, I could use as much as 6 ounces per gallon or as little as 1/2 ounce per 5 gallons. At the high end, that's equivalent to 12 TABLESPOONS (36 TSP) per gallon. Whereas the soil drench for bedding plants is 1/8 tsp. I asked Monterey to clarify this, but they got upset at me! All I want to know is what is a SAFE and effective dosage for a soil drench for my indoor pelargoniums.

    Unfortunately, typically once the plant is impacted or showing signs of root rot disease, there is no cure or remediation to save the plant. It is recommended to immediately discard infected plants after a positive diagnosis is made and then discard unwanted plants at the end of the season. Disinfect all gardening tools, prep surfaces, as well as gloves and washing your hands when handling soil, clippings or matter from the infested plant to prevent spreading. 

    Regarding the use of Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide and since it is not labeled for this application treatment, the advised ornamental rate they provided would be the only thing to go by even though it is a broad range of 0.5 fl to 6 fl oz per 1 to 5 gallons. The low rate is most of the time for preventative applications and the higher rate is for high pest pressure.

    They have fungal like blemish.

    What is the rate for Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide on a 4 yr old Red Push suffering from Texas Root Rot? What application method for 4-yr old Chinese Red Push Pistache tree?
    This was recommended by our arborist to treat Red Push trees suffering form Texas Root Rot. The tree is about 4 years old, still relatively small, and sits in soil covered in rock in about 4' x 4' space.

    Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment once the infection is established; the best course of action is usually to remove the affected tree and prevent further spread by planting resistant varieties in the area, as the fungus is soil-borne and can infect other plants. 

    While the Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide is not specifically labeled for Chinese Red Push Pistache trees, it does have labeling to control root rot on a variety of edible and ornamental plants and trees. In the tree section, it states to " Use 2 to 4 tsp. per gallon of water. Apply one gallon of solution per sq. yd. Follow application with irrigation. Application intervals: 14 to 21 days. Repeat as required"

    Can Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide be applied to succulents including cactus with what appears to be fusarium?
    I have a cactus with reddish spots and I believe it to be fusarium.

    Unfortunately, we do not have a definitive answer for you regarding treatment of cacti since they are so different than other plants. We recommend contacting a your local Master Gardener for better assisting in dealing with these plants.

    Is Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide applied as a soil drench and foliar spray if treating Phytophthora Root Rot on 8-10ft high Viburnums?

    Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide can be applied as a soil drench to ornamentals at a rate of 1/8 tsp per gallon of water, apply each 25 gallons of solution to an area of 100 sq. ft. and you could also do a foliar spray at a rate of 2 tsp to 4 tsp per gallon of water.

    Please review product label for complete application instructions.

    Although we have found some conflicting information, the most recommended method and most effective way of preventing Phytophthora root rot disease is to provide good drainage and to practice good water management. Don't over irrigate the soil more than necessary and the beddings are in an area where the soil will tend to stay moist, consider planting trees and shrubs on mounds, especially in an area where you know Phytophthora is present. While Fungicides help, they recommend that you do not rely on fungicide applications alone to control root and crown rot diseases.

    Please view this article by the University of California Extension on Phytophthora Root and Crown Rot in the Garden for more information and also, we would recommend contacting your local extension office and speak with the Master Gardener directly for fungicide rotation recommendations that have been studied and tested in your county.

    What fungicide can be used in a 14-21 day rotation with Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide for treating pythium on cool season turfgrass? Can you overseed during or after the rotation?
    A

    If doing a preventative fungicide treatment for pythium using Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide, you could rotate with Heritigae SC (Class 11) or Propiconozole 14.3 (Class 3) before disease conditions are present. 

    If Pythium has already is already established and present in the lawn, it is more difficult to control. Subdue MAXX Fungicide would be a better fungicide for active pythium. Re-treat at 7 to 14-day intervals if conditions remain favorable for disease. 

    There is no waiting period for overeseeding. Make sure you are not mowing the lawn while the turfgrass is wet as this spreads the spores on the mower blades, reduce thatch and improve drainage with core aeration, increase air circulation and reduce the amount of shade which will limit the amount of time of foliar, occasional deep watering of the lawn is better than frequent light watering, do not water at night.

    Can Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide be applied to the trunk of a 30+ yr old Crabapple tree to treat for black spot?
    I assume that applying as a control through the roots means applying along the tree's drip line. Can this product be applied through the trunk? Spray? Injection? If injection, how? And what is the best time to apply? Thank you.

    Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide can be used as a basal bark application or by injection. If you are interested in the injection application you would need to contact an arborist to do so or advise you on how to do so. Times of application vary depending on what application is being done and also when problem is present.
