My kit is just over 1 yr old. It worked in the past for me but this year it is not working. I am not sure if I have a different type of ant or if the kit is too old.

The products in the Indoor Ant Bait Kit should still work well after a year. I would make sure you are putting out a bit of both of the baits and there there is not a competing food source nearby. You also want to be sure that you are not applying any sprays or cleaning products on top of baits or directly around them.
