The applicator you use is not what makes a product a residual or not, its what it is made up of. This product is only a contact kill due the ingredients. A better option would be something like Tempo SC Ultra as this will be a residual that is safe to be sprayed in a wide variety of areas and once dry, is completely safe for anyone to be around. The Tempo works wonderfully on any type of flying stinging insects like wasps, hornets and bees as well as a huge variety of other pests. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
