Product Overview

NIBAN Granular Insect Bait is a moisture-resistant bait that can be used indoors and outdoors to control ants, silverfish, roaches, crickets and more. Niban's weatherized granules don't degrade from heat or sunlight and will last through four inches of rain. Niban is the one bait that will continue to work because Niban has no known resistance and is virtually odorless. Niban kills the microoganisms in the insect's stomach and blocks enzyme production causing starvation. And since it affects none of the insect's major systems, they can't develop resistance.

DESCRIPTION: NIBAN is a weather / moisture resistant Boric Acid based interior / exterior bait labeled for Ants (argentine, carpenter, thief, little black ants, pavement, odorous house, and pharoah), Cockroaches, Crickets, Silverfish, Snails and Slugs. 4 lb. shaker.

USE: Niban comes in a tip and pour bottle for easy application. We recommend applying the granules with a hand spreader for applications in large areas. Can be applied indoors and outdoors. For outdoors: apply where ants forage or in a 2-4 foot band around your home. Can be applied on lawns and in gardens. Indoors: Spread in attics, cellars, crawl spaces, cracks and crevices.

Niban's weatherized granules don't degrade from heat or sunlight and will last through four inches of rain. Niban is the one bait that will continue to work because Niban has no known resistance and is virutally odorless.

Niban kills the micro organisms in the insect's stomach and blocks enzyme production causing starvation. And since it affects none of the insect's major systems, they can't develop resistance.

Be careful of children and pets. 1 cup treats approx. 100 sq.ft. DO NOT apply residual insecticides or sprays near baits as that will deter pests from taking the bait. Always read the label!

Storm and Water Damage Steps

STEP 1: Broadcast Niban: In and around debris fields, inside and outside of damaged homes, around sewers and other drainage areas.

STEP 2: Reapply as necessary.

Great product, Great Seller, Great Shipping!

    By Jl on 10/12/2011

I love this stuff! I've had a problem with cave crickets for the past two years now. I had an exterminator out last year and that was expensive! He bombed the house, which was an awful chemical mess. I had to clean and wash everything that I didn't remove from the house, since it could have killed my dog. He had to come back 29 days later because, as he said, "something hatched," and the warranty was only good for 30 days following the initial treatment. He then sprinkled some kind of granular stuff around the house. That seemed like something I could do myself, if yet something else hatched. But when I asked him if I could buy the stuff he was using, he told me it wasn't available to the general public. What a liar! This year, when the crickets returned, I found it on Amazon in, like, two seconds, which was how I hooked up with DoMyOwnPestControl.com. It is the exact same stuff the exterminator used. It worked very quickly, is relatively safe to use around my dog, and I haven't seen another cricket since. I bought the 4lb shaker, used it around the exterior perimeter and inside, in the hard to reach places where insects can usually get in, near plumbing/electrical/gas lines. In the end, the Niban with the free shipping was less than 1/4 the price of the exterminator's bill. I'll just keep using this from now on. Had the exterminator just told me what he was using, I would have had this on hand this year when the crickets came back, been able to deal with the problem immediately, and not a week after the first insect appeared, and would not feel distrust toward the entire industry of exterminators. I probably would have bought the stuff from him and continued to do so for years to come. Instead, I'll just stick with this web site. The shipping took a few days, but in the end, it was a lot less stressful and very easy to use. Next, I'm going to tackle the mosquitoes that have been ruining summer in my yard for the past few years.

Works perfectly for cave cricket infestations

    By James on 07/16/2012

    Verified Purchase

Before winning my war against the cave crickets/ants by using Niban, I installed a closed window between a formerly open gateway between the basement of my house and crawlspace that is below an enclosed concrete porch. Through that window, I looked into the crawl space and counted over 50 live cave crickets alive and preparing for battle. The basement is a typical 'yankee basement' which consistent of little lighting, raised dirt floor areas (covering half the area) and an average humidity of 80%. The crawlspace is total darkness as there is only one window which used to be open area between the basement and crawlspace. Prior to Niban, I would vacuum kill about two dozen of the enemy during skirmishes in the basement every couple days, finding and killing cave crickets ambushing my loved one on the first and second floors, using Terro to kill the hundreds of ants around the property trying to make their way in. Low on moral after months in the trenches, and eager any sort of victory against the cave crickets, I tried bug bombing the basement and crawl space. The enemy remained, strong as ever, planning their next sortee and passing their survival genes to the next of kin. I learned much online about the enemy on hand during the months at war, recommendations about Niban, and decided after bombing that either an exterminator or their products were needed. I bought then used 2lbs of Niban, sprinkling it around the basement dirt areas that could be reached, tossing ounces of it to 'dust' the far raised dirt areas in the basement and crawl space areas, then never again saw a single live cave cricket or ant indoors from the day after treatment to weeks and counting. From that day, I learned first hand that Niban was the weapon of choice and 'domyownpestcontrol.com' enabled my victory. I strongly recommend it, the cost is cheaper than an exterminator and its one of the same exact products they use. I read that Niban lasts for months how I used it indoors, so like an exterminator, once a quarter, I will redust the place to keep everything perfect.

Something that finally works - Niban Granular Bait

    By Kathy on 10/24/2011

    Verified Purchase

I HATE camel crickets and this product really works. I must admit I was doubtful but figured it was worth a try. In addition to the Niban, we also wrapped cardboard with duct tape and had about 4 that stuck to the tape. After that, we haven't seen any. It has worked like a charm. I was always afraid to go out in the basement and would poke my head in the door and look before I entered to see if I saw any of those awful creatures. Now, I don't even think about going out there. Thank you so much!

Q
Will Niban Granular Bait kill spiders other than daddy long legs?
A

Unfortunately, Niban Granluar Bait is not labeled for spiders. When treating for spiders you want to look at two things that you can control: their habitat and their food source. We recommend you remove all the webbing that is in the area, and use a product like Transport Mikron to spray that would get rid of all the other pests that are in the area which is the spiders food source. While the Niban will control crickets, silverfish, ants roaches, and snails and slugs, it is not labeled like the Transport for a large variety of pest that are most likely in the area that are still a food source. You would need to eliminate their entire food source so that they will go look elsewhere for that. Transport Mikron is also labeled to treat for spiders as well should they actually come in contact with the product residual.

Is Niban Granular Bait good for killing grasshoppers?
A

Niban Granular Bait is not labeled for grasshoppers and we are not aware of a bait for them.  We would recommend using Bifen IT for grasshoppers and many other insects in the lawn and areas around the home. Per the product label, the mix rate for grasshoppers is 0.25 to 0.50 fl oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

Q
Is there a product to use for roaches outside my home?

I just noticed a investation of these calif mystery roachs out side and need to know what to buy to exterminate them before they start coming in the house. It has to be animal friendly since I have a dog and cat

A

If you are finding a lot of roach activity outdoors around your home, then an excellent product is Niban Granular Bait. This is a bait that is ready to apply from the container, and it has food attractants that are great for roaches, but an active ingredient that is all natural. Niban should be applied dry, but it can hold up to about 4 inches of rainfall after it has been applied. You may also want to take a few moments to review our Roach Prevention Guide for tips on how to keep these pests out of your home.

Q
Is Niban harmfull to dogs and cats, if so what is the treatment if they injest some?
A
Niban Granular Bait is very safe to use around children and pets. The 95% other ingredients are just food products, which is the part of the bait that attracts the insects to where you apply the bait for them to eat.  The 5% boric acid is the only part of the bait that kills the insect.  It is only strong enough to kill a small insect.  When you broadcast Niban as directed, there is not enough of it in one place to attract a pet and should cause no problems.  Many pest control companies use Niban Bait as part of their natural pest control program because it is such a safe and easy to use product.

Q
How to kill camel crickets?

They look like grasshoppers

A
We would recommend using a bait to control Camel Crickets. NIBAN comes in a convenient 4 lb. shaker container with a comfort grip handle for easy application. NIBAN Granular Insect Bait should be applied near camel cricket activity or in a 2-4 foot band around your home.

Q
Will Niban Granular Bait kill crickets in a warehouse industrial setting?

We are in a cricket mating season in Abilene, TX. Our building is old and without a lot of proper sealing from the bottom. I need to control the crickets in my warehouse; they are getting into my parts boxes and all over my warehouse. The expected time for them is expected to last a month. I realize that I will be unable to control them completely with the conditions that I am in, but I need something to bring their population down to a manageable level.

Q
What would be the recommended setting using a Scotts Broadcast Spreader to apply Niban Granular Bait?
A

The Niban Granular Bait label calls for 6 ounces per 100 sq ft, / 4 lbs. per 1000 square feet.  If your spreader settings go from 1 to 10 (1 letting out the least and 10 letting out the most) you typically want to be around a 4 setting.  If your spreader goes from 1 to 20, you should probably be around a 7 or 8 setting.  The goal is to just run out of product when you are done walking the 1000 square feet.  One person may walk faster than someone else, so they may place It on a higher setting than someone that walks slower.

Almost all fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, etc have treatments in amounts of so much product per 1000 square feet.  So if you can figure out what your walking speed is then you know anytime you apply any product that calls for so much of it per 1000 square feet, you always set your spreader on this setting.  You can calibrate this by marking off a 1000 square foot (10 x 100) area and placing 4 lbs of the Niban Granular Bait in the spreader.  Start with a low setting and start walking your marked off area at a normal pace.  You can adjust as you go and find the basic setting for you to apply the product over a 1000 square feet.
