    Does Nuvan work on house or black flies?
    I operate a small cafe and these were recommended to me by another restaurant owner. Do they work in repelling house or black flies?

    As Nuvan ProStripes are labeled to be treated for flies we do not recommend using in food handling areas such as kitchens, or in large open spaces where people make occupy for an extended amount of time. Nuvan ProStrips are most effective in confined spaces.

    Can I use the Nuvan ProStrips in a storage closet that has a water heater in it?
    A

    There should be no problem using Nuvan ProStrips in a closet that has a water heater as long as the closet is completely sealed from any living areas such as a kitchen, living room, or bedroom. Depending on what pest you are treating, we may recommend a different product for your needs.

    Should any items be cleaned or discarded after treating in sealed bags with Nuvan ProStrips?
    A steel cane and brace, clothing, toiletries (toothbrush, etc.), and messenger bags?

    After treating clothes with the Nuvan ProStrips they should be washed and dried accordingly.  This would be the same for any other items that can be washed.  For anything that cannot be washed, you can just leave the product out for a few hours to air out.

    Can I use a Nuvan Strip to put in a hole on the outside wall of a home for Bees?

    Nuvan ProStrips are for you use inside only in confined spaces and cannot be used outside in a wall.

    Is it safe to go back into the room treated with Nuvan ProStrips, tape it up, and reseal the room?
    Forgotten vent in a sealed room: We have taped off a room using 10 nuvan prostrips. I just realized that there is an open vent in the room.

    We do not advise using the Nuvan Prostrips in large open spaces where people sleep or work as they are not labeled for such use. Nuvan strips work best in confined spaces. Taping off a room using Nuvan Prostrips is an off label use and could be harmful for occupants that remain in the treated area for an extended amount of time.

    Can we use Nuvan ProStrips in bedding encasements while we use them?
    We would want to leave the strips in for about 4 weeks.

    We do not recommend applying Nuvan ProStrips in a mattress or boxspring encasement or in rooms that are being occupied such as the bedroom or kitchen, etc.

    How can I use the Nuvan ProStrips for a banquet fold up table, and do I need to use them on a microwave?
    How long on a car I use everyday? Thanks

    If you could seal up the Banquet table in a small room/closet or large bag you can use the Nuvan ProStrips. Be sure to keep the table sealed up for at least 2 weeks. The same timeframe goes for the car. Be sure the car is sealed up for at least 2 weeks. Most appliances can simply be inspected and cleaned for any pest concerns.

    Is there a large plastic room I could use to treat items with Nuvan ProStrips?
    i am looking for a large, large airtight floor standing sort of enclosure that we can put items in and hang nuvan strips in

    Unfortunately, we are not aware of an enclosure the size of a room that you could use for Nuvan ProStrips. Most customers will use plastic tubs or garbage bags with a Nuvan ProStrip inside each container or bag. You are permitted to use Nuvan ProStrips in an enclosed area such as a closet if the door stays closed and it is not a room where people spend four or more hours at a time, per the product label. (You should never use Nuvan Prostrips in living areas.)

    How many Nuvan ProStrips do I need for our shed?
    We have a shed that is probably 8x10 feet. We have boxed and bagged up items and shoved it in the shed. I plan to cut the strips in half and tape to the top lid of totes.(Or could we stretch to a third cut?) Then also hang one up. My question is how full or empty do the totes have to be? Totes have mostly clothes in them. Bags are not tied off air tight. Do the bags need a strip in them too or can the hanging strip kill off the bugs in the bags? Thank you!

    The manufacturer of the Nuvan ProStrips advises against cutting the strips. We recommend that you do not overly pack bags/containers/totes too full with belongings so that the vapors can work around the items effectively. The bags can use a strip but must be tied to enclose the strip for effectiveness. You can apply a strip one per 100-200 cubic feet of space for 2 weeks to 4 months depending on the targeted pest.

    I own a camper van and i was wondering if I could just use a few of these in the van itself.
    I'll be gone for 15 days and was thinking I could put two or three of them in the van hanging. Would this work or would it be toxic afterward?

    We would not recommend using Nuvan Pro Strips in a vehicle or moving truck that will you and the individuals in your family will come in direct contact with. Please provide the targeted pest for alternate recommendations.

    Can I use Nuvan ProStrips in my crawlspace for mosquitoes in standing water?
    A

    It is not suggested to use Nuvan ProStrips in the crawlspace. We do recommend that the moisture/standing water issue be addressed first. We do offer a Talstar P that can be applied in the crawlspace along with  Exciter for a quicker kill and Tekko Pro growth regulator. For more information on treating mosquitoes, please check out our article on How to Get Rid of Mosquitoes.

    Can I use Nuvan in my beekeepers shed? I store empty hive equipment inc. frames w/ comb
    Mice love the shed in the winter & ants, spiders & other insects can be found throughout the year. Are the Nuvan ProStrips safe to use since the frames & comb will eventually go into an active beehive which produces honey for human consumption?

    To use Nuvan ProStrips in a shed you would have to completely seal it and leave it unused for at least 2 weeks to kill anything that could be in there.  We are not sure what effect it would have on the combs/frames in the future as this is not an intended use of the product.  We would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for the best advice, AMVAC at 888-462-6822 to help answer your question.

    I live in NY. What product can be used around sensitive electronics since Nuvan Pro Strips cannot be shipped to NY or CT?

    We apologize but there is not an alternative product that is similar to Nuvan Pro Strips that will release vapors to treat sensitive areas or objects. It is a one of kind product.     How long do I need to keep items in zip tied trash bags with a Nuvan strip for cloth moths?
    I had a cloth moth infestation and have already quarantined some suspect feather arrangements, rugs etc... since April. I can't tell for sure if these items have eggs so I have placed each item in a sealed trash bag with a Nuvan strip, sprayed with Precor 2625 and zip tied in the garage.

    Typically you want to keep stored items with Nuvan ProStrips sealed for at least 2 weeks. Most clothing moth eggs hatch in about 10 days, so you are trying to catch newly hatching eggs and adults during that time. If you can store items for longer, then you decrease risk of missing any immature moths.

    Will Nuvan Prostrips kill bird mites in a home or attic?

    Nuvan ProStrips are not labeled for bird mites or use in the open spaces/rooms of the home/attic. We do recommend that you consult with your local cooperative extension office entomologist for a pest id/recommendations for those areas.

    If one Nuvan ProStrip came into contact with soaking water, is the strip still good?
    I was going through the bag and missed one of the strips, as I dumped all them into the tub a strip was in it. I had filled the tub with water. Is the strip still good/ is the water contaminated? I was trying to sort through some of them and had my hands in this water.

    Since the Nuvan ProStrips are designed for use straight from the package, we would not use one that had been dropped into water. If you are using that water for cleaning, then we recommend discarding it and getting fresh water. You can view the Safety Data Sheet for this product here.
