    Q
    Will lice spray kill fleas?
    A

Yes, there are some lice spray products that are labeled to kill both lice and fleas. One of these products is NyGuard Plus. Nyguard Plus kills all stages of fleas quickly and provides residual control of fleas for up to 7 months. Proper cleaning and vacuuming before and during flea treatments will greatly impact the results achieved while using NyGuard Plus.  It is imperative to vacuum thoroughly before application, and every day or every other day after application for at least the first 14 days of treatment.

Application Instructions: Hold can 2 or 3 feet from surfaces to be treated. Turn container upside down and point valve toward surface to be sprayed. Be sure to apply uniformly using a sweeping motion to carpets, rugs, flooring, floors, drapes and all surfaces of upholstered furniture including under cushions. Avoid over wetting furniture and carpeting. A fine mist or spray applied uniformly is all that is necessary to kill fleas and ticks. Be sure to treat pet bedding, as this is a primary hiding place for fleas, ticks, and their eggs. No need to remove pet bedding after treatment. DO NOT TREAT PETS. Use a registered flea control product on your pets in conjunction with this treatment.

    Q
Can NyGuard Plus be applied for carpet beetles on all carpeted areas of the home?
I'd like to eliminate all chances of infestation and re-infestation as carpet beetles are really hard to control and are very destructive. I'd like to treat furniture, closets, carpet, bare floors, etc. Entire home.
    A

Nyguard Plus can be broadcast across your carpet for carpet beetles. It is also labeled for various other insects as well. This product contains an insecticide and an insect growth regulator to stop the life cycle of pests. Apply with a sweeping motion as a surface spray to carpet, rugs, closets, baseboards, upholstered furniture, and around edges of carpet.

  • Asked by Travis

    Q
How long does NyGuard Plus stay in the carpet?
We have 2 kids 2 and 3 months who are on the carpet. We want to ensure its safe for them to play, on the carpet. Our concern for the new baby is that she may put her mouth on the floor.
    A
Typically the residual of the NyGuard Plus is roughly 7 months to give you continuous flea protection. That being said, as long as you keep kids and pets off the surfaces that were sprayed until everything has had time to completely dry, it will cause them no harm to be on the surface or put their mouth on it.

    Q
    Will Flea Spray Kill Lice?
    A
Yes, some flea sprays, like Nyguard Plus, are labeled to kill lice as well. Spray only surfaces that cannot be laundered or dry-cleaned including mattresses and upholstered furniture. Apply on mattresses as a spot treatment to mattress seams, edges, buttons, and tufts of bed only. Do not use directly on pillows, bed linens, or cloths. Do not saturate the mattress and do not treat entire surface area of mattress. Allow mattress to dry thoroughly before replacing pillows and/or bed linens.

    Q
Can I still use steam to clean a carpet treated with NyGuard Plus?
I have normally used a stick steam machine on a carpeted area that has now been treated with NyGuard Plus (I bought the Indoor Flea Tick Kit recently). Can I still use steam after this NyGuard treatment?
    A

It is recommended that you steam treat before using a product, such as Nyguard Plus. If you steam clean after, this will remove the product from the area that was treated.

    Q
How long after spraying on hardwood floors can it be mopped after Nyguard Plus dries ?
    A

When treating hardwood floors with Nyguard Plus, treatment should be directed to the cracks and crevices only. There really is no reason to treat the entire floor as it is not a habitable area for most pests. You would want to wait until your treatment is complete and the pest is eliminated before mopping areas treated as this will remove the product.

    Q
How long does it take after the second treatment of NyGuard Plus to see effects?
I have treated with my guard twice now for fleas and spaced them out between 14 days. It's been 3 days since my last treatment and I still have bites all over. How Ling does it usually take to get rid of them?
    A

NyGuard Plus should be applied once every two weeks until the fleas are gone (vacuuming daily). It will take a minimum of two applications (two weeks apart) but may require more applications at these intervals depending on the level of infestation.

  • Asked by Chase from Knoxville, Tn

    Q
How does NyGuard Plus compare to Precor IGR and its ingredients?
    A

NyGuard Plus contains the insect growth regulator (IGR) pyriproxyfen along with insecticide, so it is an "all-in-one" product.  Precor IGR contains an IGR only and would need to be mixed with an insecticide.

  • Asked by Tamara from Ben Lomond, Ca
    03/14/2017
    Q
Why is it imperative to vacuum 14 consecutive days after treatment with NyGuard Plus?
    A

It is necessary to vacuum after applying NyGuard Plus (or any other flea treatment) because vacuuming pulls fleas and eggs to the surface of carpeting and also provides the stimulation the pupa (immature fleas) need to exit their eggs and expose themselves to the insecticides that have been applied.  Please take a moment to look over our Flea Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing this pest.
