However, it also can be applied full strength using a pump sprayer. Direct the spray onto the pond surface while walking around the pond. Even still with some sprayers the fertilizer must be diluted with water so that it will pass through the small nozzle openings. The general mixing rate is 3 gallons of water to 1 gallon of fertilizer, applied as evenly as possible over the pond.
