Product Overview

PT Phantom II Pressurized Insecticide delivers the power and effectiveness of Phantom Insecticide in a convenient and easy-to-use aerosol can. Phantom aerosol provides broad-spectrum control over numerous indoor pests including bed bugs, ants and cockroaches. Phantom dries clear with no visible residue, and delivers long-residual non-repellent control. In other words, Phantom aerosol will stay around and kill pests long after you spray it. Plus, it has a transfer effect allowing insects to pick up the residual and spread it to one another through touch and food-sharing, which kills even the pests you don't see. How Phantom Aerosol Works

Phantom Aerosol is a ready-to-use residual insecticide with the active ingredient Chlorfenapyr. Chlorfenapyr belongs to a relatively new class of insecticides called pyrroles which are produced from microbes. Pyrroles do not metabolize into active insecticides until after they enter the host target pest. Chlorfenapyr disrupts the production of ATP in the part of the cell that turns food into energy, causing cellular death and ultimate mortality. Because this process is slower than other modes of action, Phantom can have a transfer effect similar to that of baits on social insects like ants, cockroaches, and termites. Once applied, Phantom Aerosol has a residual of at least 30 days.

Phantom II Aerosol Target Pests

Ants, cockroaches, beetles, bed bugs, spiders, wasps

Insects Controller with Phantom II: Ants (Acrobat, Argentine, Odorous House, Pavement, Pharaoh, Pyramid); Beetles (Asian Lady, Confused Flour, Darkling Larva (Yellow mealworm), Saw-toothed Grain); Bark Scorpions; Bed Bugs, Boxelder Bugs, Centipedes; Cockroaches (American, Asian, Brown-Banded, German, Oriental, Smokey Brown); Earwigs; House Crickets; House Flies; Paper Wasps; Pillbugs; Spiders (Black Widow, Cellar); Silverfish; Stored Product Pests; Termites

Target Uses of Phantom Aerosol

Phantom Aerosol has the same power and effectiveness as Phantom Insecticide Concentrate in a convenient ready-to-use can. Phantom has a long residual and can be used in many places. Because of its transfer effect, Phantom is excellent for ants, cockroaches, and other social insects. It can also be used in conjunction with baiting. Phantom Aerosol is excellent for use in smaller areas such as apartments where residual insecticides may be desired, but the large quantities that concentrates yield are not needed. Because of its unique active ingredient, Phantom is effective on pyrethroid-resistant strains of bed bugs and cockroaches.

Phantom Aerosol is not a knockdown agent and should not be used for knockdown treatment of stinging insects.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Chlorfenapyr 0.5%

    Pros Use It

    By Shirley on 10/15/2010

We had confirmed bed bugs at work and I think I brought them home. I asked what the exterminators had used and they said Suspend and Mother Earth. I then called a local exterminator and they quoted me $800 to spray Phantom and dust with DE. I can't afford a pro so I purchased Phantom, Suspend and Mother Earth, put on a mask and went to battle myself. It's been only 3 weeks but I think I won. I slashed the bottom of my new expensive sofa to really get into the grooves and sprayed everywhere. I also encased my mattress and box spring. It's reassuring that if the bugs come back I can retreat immediately and not have to spend $800 each time.

    Works Great, but Be Careful!

    By Chris on 08/10/2010

This product has a ruthless odor, stronger than most aerosols such as CB-80 or P.I. and if used indoors can smell bad and choke everyone out of the room. Be sure to use your PPE and/or open windows while using it. Also, be sure not to spray it in your eyes...I accidentally sprayed it right into my eye and it burned and had a cold, tingling feeling for hours.

    Same Stuff the Pros Use

    By Brad on 10/02/2010

    Verified Purchase

I had my upstairs treated for BedBugs last month by a professional pest control company. I checked my receipt and searched the chemicals they used. That is when I found DoMyOwnPestControl.com. On my receipt from the Pest Control Company it lists Phantom Aerosol Spray was used along with other chemicals. So I bought a can and also the BedBug Kit#2 which also contains products the pros use. I also bought mattress and box spring encasements. They are priceless, since I can sleep knowing that those evil bugs are no longer camping out waiting to suck my blood. DoMyOwnPestControl.com was easy to order from and my order was received in three days. I am very pleased with how they do business. I would recommend DoMyOwnPestControl.com to anyone suffering from BedBug infestation.

Kiss your indoor ant problems goodbye

    By Philip on 06/05/2009

    Verified Purchase

For weeks I've been dealing with annoying little black ants (argentine or sugar ants I think) coming in and around the back door of my house and eating all of the Cheerios our little baby keeps dropping on the kitchen floor. We tried everything to stop the ants, but whatever we used or sprayed on them would just keep them away for a day or so, and then they would just pop out of the wall somewhere else. Then I tried this Phantom spray. Wow, does this stuff work! I sprayed just a line of Phantom along the bottom of the back door and where the ants were coming in, and within minutes there were dead ants everywhere I sprayed. Not only that, but the ants never came back. I highly recommend!

    Works GREAT!!!!!!

    By Matthew on 12/30/2012

    Verified Purchase

Bought two cans to fight bed bugs and roaches. My roommate brought a mattress infested with bed bugs into our new house, and we sprayed his room and all the furniture and many parts of the house with a different bug spray. This was 3 months ago. I have never had a problem with bed bugs until about 4 weeks ago. I got four bites on my stomach and back. I immediately researched what spray would be the best and decided to get Phantom. I sprayed my mattress all over (against the directions, but it doesn't stain so I figured whatever) and along the seams, and sprayed the same way on the box spring, and all over my room along the perimeter and all over the door seams. Been almost two weeks, no bed bug bites!!!! Only used a 1/4 of one can, so i'm prepared just in case, though I doubt they will be back. I also sprayed down stairs in the kitchen and the little roaches we had been seeing stopped appearing. PHANTOM IS HIGH QUALITY PEST CONTROL, IT KILLS ALL THE BUGS YOU DON"T WANT IN YOUR HOUSE AND IS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE AGAINST BED BUGS!!!!!

Q
I have both Talstar P and PT Phantom along with Gentrol Point Source. What is the best way to combine these to eliminate a roach infestation?
A

You could use either Phantom or Talstar P in an area for roach control, but you would not want to spray both of these products in the same area. As a general rule for roach control, we recommend that you Spray Low and Bait High. Phantom would be preferred over Talstar for roach control because it is a non-repellent spray, meaning it has a slower kill on the individual insect so that you get some transfer effect back to other roaches which are hiding out of sight. We always recommend using a residual spray, IGR (such as the Gentrol Point Source), and a roach bait gel for the best results. We have more tips on these applications in our online Roach Treatment Guide. Please let us know if you have other questions anytime.

Q
Does Phantom II work for German roaches?

I sprayed with Phantom II five days ago for German roaches. I also put down glue traps and put Vendetta Plus gel in my upper cabinets. I am still seeing roaches on the wall and walking along carpets. Does activity increase when you spray and gel? When should I see a reduction in them? I keep a clean house but live in an apartment building.

A

Phantom II Aerosol will start working immediately on the roaches that come into contact with any treated surfaces. It is not likely that you would see roach activity increase during treatment, but keep in mind that it is not a contact kill type of product, so they will not die as soon as they touch it. It will start to work on their system and they will start getting weaker and dying within a few hours of contact. The Vendetta Plus also contains a growth regulator (IGR) which will further help to control the population.  However, please keep in mind that roaches are difficult to control, so it will likely take more than 5 days to see full results.  Moderate roach infestations can take a few weeks to get rid of, and severe infestations can take several months even when using all of the products needed (insecticide, IGR, roach bait), and sanitation is up to par.

Q
Can I use the Phantom II Aerosol and the Phantom Concentrate for carpenter ants indoors?

Hello, I have a problem with an invasion of carpenter ants in my house. I found on your site an interesting non repellent product of either Phantom II Aerosol Insecticide or Phantom Termicide / Insecticide. On your site you recommend in the house only use in indoors (Crack & Crevice Only), so does this mean I cannot use along baseboard where ants establish trails? In other words not for use as a surface application inside living spaces?

A

You can certainly use Phantom in the aerosol or the concentrate form indoors for carpenter ants. Both the Phantom Aerosol and the concentrate are labeled to be used directly on baseboards as well as in cracks and crevices around the home where they would be trailing and around window and doorframes and around potention entry points.  Surface applications would be considered open areas of floors/carpets in a broadcast fashion, and you cannot use the Phantom in either form in that manner.

Q
Is it okay for me to use Phantom in places other than cracks and crevices?

I know it says on the label to use in voids, cracks, crevices and spot treatment, but the places the ants are coming from are beneath my baseboards. Is it okay for me to spray along the baseboards around the house, including the living room and kitchen? And when it says use in a well ventilated area, do I need windows open or can I just blast my air-conditioner and turn on the fans after application? ( By the way, I find your site extraordinarily informative, I really love it! )

A
You can spray the bottom of the baseboards with Phantom but do try to aim for the cracks at the bottom of the baseboards where the ants are emerging. Most homes are pretty well ventilated but if yours is not then you should indeed open a window for a few minutes while you are applying the product. We appreciate the compliment on our website!

Q
What do I do when ants ignore every kind of sweet and protein bait I have offered them?

I have small (~1/8", no more than 3/16" long) black or very dark brown ants which are in the wall behind the bathroom shower. I have found a hole where they come out at the base of the shower. I tried several sugar-syrup baits (terro and revenge, plus home-made boric acid + sugar +water and boric acid + pancake syrup, and Raid bait traps, which appear to have peanut butter inside. I also made home-made peanut butter + boric acid. I put out a small piece of cheese. Nothing seems to attract them. I have ordered some Advance 375A protein bait and some Intice sweet liquid bait from your web site, but have not received them yet, so I don't know if they will work. I would prefer to use baits, as I am not enthused with spreading toxic sprays inside my house. Please advise.

A
There are several species of ants that make their own food and will not take any type of bait at all. You may be dealing with one of these ant species. In cases like this you are limited to using a spray, dust or foam of some sort to gain control. When the products are used as recommended on the product label they are usually limited to cracks and crevices and voids and are not spread through the home. Phantom Aerosol would be a good choice for ant control indoors. Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that has a delayed reaction which allows ants time to get back to the colony and spread the product. In essence, the ants will not be able to tell that the product is in place and they will pick it up on the fine hairs all over their body and inadvertently carry it back to the colony where over a course of a few days it will knock out the entire colony. Phantom works really well because you don't have to worry about whether the ants will all take the bait, they just need to walk over the treated areas. Phantom should be applied around baseboards, door frames, window frames and places where utilities (cables, pipes and wires) enter through the wall as these are the most likely places for the ants to enter/exit.

Q
Do I need to clean inside the kitchen cupboards after using Phantom?

Hello, I have used the Phantom Aerosol to spray along crevices and corners inside the kitchen cupboards. However, I am sure some stuff got sprayed around (I had no little stick attachment). I have weevils and other bugs crawling everywhere. I have got rid off all the food that was open. Now, I bought some new food. Can I put it in the cabinets the next day? Should I wipe off the shelves? Some food will sit open inside the cabinet, like a sugar bowl. Thanks!

A
Once Phantom has dried, you can put all your food back into the cabinets. It is not required that you wipe the shelves down, but it will not remove the pesticide if you do. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q
Treating for bed bugs

I have sprayed all the mattresses with BEDLAM, let them dry and have put mattress encasements on and box spring encasements. Zip tied them shut. I sprayed the frame of all three beds. Now......in the kids rooms there are toys toys toys!!! Books, baby dolls, stuffed animals, Legos, ect... I have put them in the middle of the room and an feelng pretty overwhelmed looking at the pile and wonder, how do I tackle this? I also still have to hit the closets. So my question is: how do I handle all these toys? I can't bag them and put them away for a 1 & 1/2 year. Would you put the toys in a bag, spray them with bedlam, close the bag up for a week or so and then wash them In the dishwasher? And do you think the bugs would be In the Legos? Very overwhelmed. Should I spray the game room since the kids take toys back and forth from the game room to the bedrooms? Sorry so long and thanks for your help.

A

You are not alone in this Bed Bug Battle. We do not recommend spraying the toys with Bedlam. When it comes to furniture and mattresses, you really want to apply to seams and folds. We recommend using Nuvan Strips. You can put the items like toys into plastic bins or tightly sealed trash bags. You want to leave them sealed for 1-2 weeks. Nuvan Strips kill by vapors that emerge slowly over time and control pests exposed to the vapors. Bed bugs can enter pretty much anywhere, even nail heads. They can enter inside of legos. Yes, you do want to spray the play room. In fact, it is highly recommended to re treat once every two weeks. Keep treating until you have gone 30 days without any evidence of bed bugs. We would also recommend to read our article How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs. You will read that it really takes more than one product to eradicate Bed Bugs. Please visit our bed bug kits which do include Bedlam. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
