    Q
Can I use Phantom to spray in kitchen cupboards and along baseboards to control cockroaches?
If I can't use Phantom, could you please recommend a spray that I could use in the kitchen?
    A
We do not recommend that you spray anything in your cupboards because of the risk of contaminating your food or dishes. Instead, you should use a roach bait gel such as Advion Roach Bait Gel. The roaches will consume this bait and spread the bait to other roaches that are hidden in inaccessible areas and wipe out the population. Apply the bait into cracks and crevices in drawers, cupboards and around the counter. For easier clean up, you can also place the bait onto sticky notes and when you are done with the baiting you simply peel the sticky note off of the surface and dispose of it.  You can use Phantom in the cracks and crevices around the baseboards in the kitchen with no problem. We also recommend you add Gentrol insect growth regulator to the Phantom. Gentrol contains a synthetic roach juvenile growth hormone that disrupts the growth of the roaches and prevents them from reaching sexual maturity therefore preventing mating.

    Q
Can I use Phantom after using Suspend for bed bug treatment?
Will the Suspend repel them before they can get to the Phantom or shouldn't it kill them before repelling? Will spraying Suspend a few times then switching to Phantom cause some bad pesticide mixing effect?
    A
You can use Phantom and Suspend in the same areas, but it would not be beneficial in any way. Phantom is non-repellent so bedbugs cannot avoid the treated areas, and Phantom will kill bedbugs that cross over the treated area within 3 days. There has been no known resistance to Phantom because it is not in the same family of insecticides as Suspend. If you have used Suspend, you should wait at least two weeks before applying Phantom to avoid ruining the non-repellent properties of the product.

    Q
Phantom vs WebOut CobWeb Eliminator for indoor use.
What are the pros and cons of choosing Phantom vs WebOut CobWeb Eliminator for long-term prevention of indoor cobweb formation in room corners and around lights kept on at night etc. ?
    A
Web Out works well to kill spiders on contact but it does not leave a long killing residual. Web Out also of course coats surfaces and helps prevent the reformation of webs. Phantom on the other hand does not kill on contact or prevent reformation of webs but instead leaves a long lasting residual that kills spiders and other insects over several days. By killing other insects you are also removing the spiders food source which in turn will make your structure less favorable to new spiders. Most folks use Web Out in conjunction with a long lasting insecticide.

    Q
Will Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide kill bed bug eggs
I'd like to use products that can be applied with a pump up sprayer, with enough to do 2 follow ups treatments, also mixing with some type of inhibitor that reduces population of beg bugs . I ALREADY DID CLIMB UPS AND BOXSPRING AND MATTRESS HA ENCASEMENT. RIGHT NOW I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE COUCHES, WHICH ALSO HAS CLIMB UP. I'M ALSO DID DUSTING TO THE CARPETS IN ALL ROOMS. I STILL SEE BB COUCHES TIME TO TIME
    A
We would recommend using Temprid SC as you can apply it to cracks and crevices, upholstered furniture, apply only to the infested tufts, seams, folds and edges. Mattresses apply to tufts, seams, folds, and edges until moist. Apply to bed springs, box springs, and the interior of bed frames or headboards, including all cracks and joints. You may also want to use a contact kill like Sterifab that can be directly applied to mattresses, couch cushions and all areas where other insecticides cannot. Gentrol IGR when mixed with Temprid will provide control in killing and controlling the growth cycle.

    Q
Phantom has the same active ingredient, in the same concentration as Pylon. Are they the same?
I first started looking at buying Pylon to add to my rotation for spraying for thrips. But it is stupid expensive. Then I was looking here for roach solutions and I see phantom. My question is - is the formulation, the inactive ingredients so different in Phantom that it would not perform well on thrips. Because Pylon is listed for thrips, but not roaches, and Phantom is listed for roaches but not thrips. But they both have the same active ingredient in the same concentration. I have to assume the buffering agents or deliver systems are so different that Phantom doesn't work on thrips ... or perhaps they both work equally as well, and BASF simply listed one set of pests on one product and a different set on the other. What do you think? If I buy Phantom for roaches, do you think it will help with thrips in my rotation?
    A
You ask a great question and honestly we cannot tell you if both will work for the same insects if they are not on the label. We also do not carry a concentrate form of Pylon so we are not familiar with it and how it would truly compare to Phantom. The best person to ask would be one of the technicians at BASF. They will be able to better answer any and all of your questions regarding the 2 products and if the Phantom will work for your use for thrips to help save you money. You can reach BASF at 1-800-777-8570. We would recommend an alternative product that would potentially take care of both but we would first need to know where you are having a problem with the thrips. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
I used all of the FenvaStar in my first treatment, can Phantom termiticide be used for second?
Big home ( converted barn ). Phantom is commercial sized. And will be doing basement for spiders and other pests, but doing interior of home for bed bugs.
    A
The Phantom is a great product for bed bugs and can be used for your second treatment. Keep in mind that for a large home you would need the 78oz bottle of phantom as the 21oz bottle only makes 7 gallons of finished solution which is less than the bottle of FenvaStar creates. Also, typical treatments for bedbugs are every 7-14 days until you can go 30 days in a row with no signs or bites from the bedbugs. Phantom you can only spray once every 30 days. Another option that would be better would be the Temprid SC. It can be sprayed every 7 days for bed bugs and covers a larger range of insects than the Phantom for general perimeter control.

    Q
Can I spray phantom in kitchen and bathroom cupboards? Where would I spray in bedrooms including children's?
I have a BAD German Cockroach infestation!
    A
We would not recommend spraying the Phantom inside the cabinets. You can use it along baseboards and in cracks and crevices such as under or behind cabinets. Keep children out of the treatment area until the application has dried. You should also use a roach bait gel and an insect growth regulator when controlling German Roaches, in addition to being adament about practicing good sanitation and eliminating competing food and water sources. We sell bait and IGR together in our Roach Control Kit #1. You can also read more on our German Roach Control Page.

    Q
Will it be ok to use this product on appliances.
Like stove microwave washer an dryer
    A
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide should not be applied to appliances. It sounds like you may be treating for roaches. Phantom can be applied as a barrier to baseboards, cracks, crevices and entry points. You then want to apply a bait like Maxforce Magnum in kitchens and bathrooms. Please review our Roach Control page for extra tips.

    Q
Does Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide work on mites since it has Chlorfenapyr, the ingredient in miticides?
A popular (and expensive miticide) has the same active ingredient, Chlorfenapyr, and I'm wondering if this product would also work on rust mites.
    A

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is not labeled for mites. This would not be an appropriate substitute for registered miticides that may contain the same active ingredient.

  • Asked by Jacob from Amarillo

    Q
Why is Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide not recommended to be used as the sole product to treat for bed bugs?
    A

We always recommend using more than one product to combat a bed bug infestation. While Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is a great product to use in this process, it is just one in a combination that we recommend. Phantom is really only labeled to be sprayed around cracks and crevices and baseboard areas, so you would not be able to apply it in all of the areas that would need to be treated for bed bugs. That is why we recommend other products as well, such as those that our found in our Bed Bug Control Kits.  Using a combination of products will allow you to treat areas like the tufts and seams of your mattresses and box springs, inside dresser drawers, night stands, underneath furniture cushions, and inside electrical outlets and light switch plates. All of these areas are critical in the elimination of a bed bugs infestation. For more information on recommended products and where to use them, please take a look at our Bed Bug Control Guide

    Q
Can I mix Temprid SC and Phantom together?
    A

It is not recommended that you mix two insecticides such as Temprid SC and Phantom together as this can cause issues with resistance.  You can alternate between the two if you wish.

  • Asked by Tim from Dayton, Oh
    10/04/2017
    Q
How many times can you use Phantom before bed bugs become immune?
I have sprayed Phantom about 10 times in my apartment. It is the only thing that we have had any luck with. My question is how many times can I use Phantom before the bed bugs start building up immunity to it?
    A

As of now there have been no known reports of resistance build up to Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide.  We will say that sprays alone are not enough to eliminate bed bugs as you cannot use in all the areas you need to treat for them.  We would recommend one of our Bed Bug Control kits here.  Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms you need to treat.   We also have a great guide here that explain the treatment that should be done.
