Plant Food

Plant food can give your edible plants a boost of nutrients needed to thrive. Plant food is often considered a nutrient supplement to go along with regular fertilizer applications. Plant food can provide a specific nutrient or variety of nutrients that go beyond the basic nutrients found in many fertilizers.

Plant Food for Edible Gardens

Using plant food, including plant supplements and plant hormones, are meant to give plants an extra supply of certain nutrients. Sometimes, this is to achieve specific results, like growing bigger blooms on shrubs or more tomatoes per plant.  You may add plant food to your plants to fill in nutrient gaps or to remedy nutrient deficiencies. Keep in mind that plant food is not the same as a fertilizer because plant food generally doesn’t contain the right balance of the key nutrients that appear in fertilizer.

When choosing a plant food for edible garden plants, read the label carefully to find out if it can be used on the plants you want to treat, and follow all application instructions.
