Natural and organic plant supplements help your ornamentals get what they need to look beautiful and stay healthy. Plant supplements contain certain nutrients or minerals that aim to produce a specific result in flowers and other plants and often added as a secondary boost of nutrients along side a regular fertilizer application.
Sometimes, we want our plants to behave or look differently, and adding a plant supplement can help. For example, adding aluminum sulfate to the soil of your hydrangeas will turn them blue, because it will lower the pH in the soil, while addling limestone to your hydrangea’s soil will turn them pink, because it raises the pH of the soil. Iron can help yellowed foliage green up, and calcium prevents fungal diseases in tomatoes.
When choosing a natural or organic plant supplement, look closely on the label to read where the sources of the ingredients are from. Organic products will be labeled OMRI compliant or that they can be used in organic gardens.
