Pond application

My pond is almost an acre, and it was rebuilt in 1993. By my pasture, I used to sell hay, so I have runoff. Only have catfish, bass, and bluegill. It's from 4' to 8' deep. And I'm not sure how much of this to use. And I water the vegetable garden, potted flowers, and the lawn. Will it hurt these plants? And exactly how much of the product do I use? I have only used a pump sprayer and a total of 4 cups of it in a 2-gallon container.

Answer:

Waters treated with Cutrine Plus Algaecide may be used for watering ornamental plants or crops after treatment. Also, you do not want to treat the entire pond all at once so that you do not harm the fish. You will need to 1/2 to treat the pond and wait 2 weeks and do the second treatment. Directions for the mix rate are below and please see the Cutrine Plus Algaecide Label for complete instructions.

1. Identify the form of algae growth present as one of the following types: Planktonic (suspended), Filamentous (mat forming), or Benthic (Chara/Nitella) and estimate the density of growth (Low, Medium, High). Use Table 1 - Copper Concentration to select the desired PPM (Parts per Million) Copper needed, based upon the algal form and density.

2. Refer to the Table 2 - Product Application Rate and determine gallons of product needed per Acre-foot corresponding to the desired PPM concentration determined in Step #1.Please see page 2 of the label for the charts referenced above.
