We bought a 40 year old log cabin which has cedar tongue and groove for the ceiling of the basement. My sister has been living downstairs for the last year and has had numerous powderpost beetle problems. About 2 weeks ago we sprayed the bedroom ceiling and closet wall with Boracare, mixed as a 2:1 mixture with hot water and a manual sprayer. We did 2 coats to be certain and as of today there are still powderpost beetles everywhere. They fall from the ceiling, crawl out of the wall and are a nuisance everywhere. Help me! I can't get rid of these beetles!
When treating an active infestation, Bora Care should be used at a 1:1 ratio on raw wood. It appears that the product may not have been applied at the correct rate to get control of the active infestation. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. Boracare will last for the life of the wood but will only kill the beetles that are active and feed on the wood so you can still see activity as they can lay dormant for years until conditions are right for the young to hatch and become active.
