    Q
With careful application, can I spray Prodiamine 65 WDG right up to the base of my 1 foot raised vegetable garden bed?
I know that I can't apply to a edible garden, however my garden bed is raised by 1 foot. My grass goes up the base of the bed. Can I apply this product up to the base of the bed, given that I spray carefully and avoid wind drifts. Will spraying this product near the bed affect the soil inside the raised garden bed where the vegetables are planted?
    A

We recommend applying Prodiamine 65 WDG at least a few feet away from the vegetable garden. Also, it would be best to cover the garden if possible to be sure that no drift spray touches the growing plants.

    Q
What is the dilution rate for Prodiamine at 1lb per acre when using a 300 gallon tank that covers 4 acres?
My 300 gallon tank will cover 4 Acres
    A

Depending upon where you are located in the country and what type of turf you have, you are generally going to want to do a split application of Prodiamine 65 WDG twice a year to get a longer residual that will last year round.  You can use anywhere from 0.5 lbs-0.75 lbs per application, once in the spring and once in the fall.  If your 300 gallon tank covers 4 acres then you could use anywhere from 2-3 lbs per 300 gallons per application doing two applications per year.

  • Asked by Ramiro from Austin
    02/01/2019
    Q
How much of Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) do I apply per 1,000 sq ft?
    A

You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz  (1.1 tsp-3.3 tsp) of Prodiamine 65 WDG per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area, note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.055 oz (1.1 tsp-3.3 tsp) of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.

    Q
Will I need to reapply Prodiamine 65 WDG if we have very heavy rainfall following application?
    A

As long as the application of Prodiamine 65 WDG has had at least 24 hours without rain, there isn't a need to reapply. We would recommend delaying the application if you're expecting more than 1 inch of rain.

  • Asked by Dave from North Las Vegas, Nv
    01/22/2019
    Q
Can I use Prodiamine 65 WDG now before placing sod in late April and have success?
The area is free of grass now but has areas of dormant crabgrass. I want to treat the area by the first week of February, place approximately 2" of imported non-treated top soil, and place sod in late April. Is this a plan that would work? Thank You.
    A

You need to wait at least four months after applying Prodiamine 65 WDG before you can put down new sod. There is a chart on page 11 of the product label indicating minimum wait times depending on your location and the rate used. Depending on what kind of grass you are putting down, Tenacity Herbicide can be used just before or at the same time you put down new seed or sod.

    Q
Can I mix Prodiamine 65 WDG with Surflan AS?
Is now a good time (Mid Jan) to spray pre-emergent in W Texas?
    A

Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region.  There is no valid reason to mix Prodiamine 65 WDG with Surflan AS as they are both pre-emergents labeled for the same weeds.

    Q
Can I use Prodiamine 65WG on Bermudagrass that is over seeded with annual ryegrass without harming either?
    A

Per the Prodiamine 65 WDG product label: To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG. When to Overseed After Application (All States)* Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG will inhibit the development of turfgrass species overseeded too soon after application. Follow rates and intervals in the table below for best overseeding/reseeding results

    Q
What is the correct dilution rate for Prodiamine 65 WDG?
    A

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.55 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated

How long do I have to wait to apply Prodiamine 65 WDG to new sod?
    A

Per the Prodiamine 65 WDG product label,  "To avoid turfgrass injury, do not apply to newly set sod until the sod has rooted and exposed edges have filled in. This time frame could be anywhere between 8-16 weeks depending on root and turf establishment speed".

  • Asked by Carolyn from Little Rock, Ar
    10/20/2018
    Q
Is it safe to spray Prodiamine 65 WDG over ground cover such as Asian jasmine, blue Pacific junipers, and sedum?
We are over-run with spotted spurge. Would you suggest spraying this in both the Spring and Fall?
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG is a great pre-emergent for prostrate spurge only, and there is a long list of tolerant ornamentals starting on page 15 of the product label. There are several types of Jasmine, Juniper, and sedum listed as tolerant. You may want to consider using Snapshot in your ornamental beds, instead, though. This pre-emergent label lists over 300 tolerant ornamental species and will prevent several types of spurge including both prostrate and spotted spurge. You can apply either of these products in Spring or Fall, although you definitely want to apply in Spring and possibly again in mid-summer for spurge prevention. Spurge also prefers high moisture areas, so be sure you address any drainage issues to help prevent this weed from thriving. Keep in mind that pre-emergents will only prevent new plants from germinating, not kill existing plants.
